Talking Age old farmers arguement! Deere or IH

this is to all the farmers here and im just trying to figure out who stands where on tractors! I was raised a diehard Deere fan, but ill take a few old IH Farmall's. Gotta love our '64 806 "first one made that year." Anywho let the farmers at it!

I wouldn't say no to an IH, but I've always preferred Deere.

I actually like both but my all time favorite tractor to drive was a 4755 John Deere.I haven't sat inside any of the newest models each manufacturer offers though, so I can't comment on them.

Color me red -- spent many a cold winter afternoon when I was growing up riding around on an early-50's model plowing snow back in Minnesota. Good memories.....

Grew up on my grandparents farm, and whoever else, with IH stuff so that's where my allegiance lies.

First tractor I ever drove was a Farmall B offset. Took a half a day to change implements too. Then I graduated to a Ford 8N, if you can call that graduating. From there to a Ford 200 diesel with the 10 speed hydromatic-now we're hummin'! My stepdad then got a IH 804 diesel and now we're cookin'. When my stepdad finally gave up peanut farming he was driving an air conditioned John Deere 8870 8x8 with power steering and an automatic tranny. He had a TV installed in it and a CB radio so mom could call him in for lunch. Unfortunately it seems like the day he gave up farming he gave up living. He was one hellva fine man and I still miss him. But my brother and I have some of the best memories two young kids that are now old men could possibly have. There is no life like growing up on a farm or ranch.

in my experience, as long as your getting John Deeres that were made in Germany you are good to go. Mexican made John Deeres are crap. My parent's owned an industrial mowing company and had about 35 John Deeres that were all German made save for 2 that were made in Mexico. Ive never seen something give my dad and later my stepdad so many headaches. They are cheaper but you certainly get what you pay for. fwiw they owned 6400s, 6420s, 5420s, 5400s and a 7405 and 5510(mexican).
My mom left me her Buck 650 when she passed away

Family drives red ones. Just got tractors in this year and they are sweet 260 magnums!
From what i understand any tractor with expensive green, red or blue paint are about the same. IH has a better resale then the green ones where my family trade, so thats why they drive red ones. IH has always dealt better the JD.

delt better?! they merged with Case in the 80's and i forget who bought em last pre 80's IH's are the best, my girlfriends dad had run red tractors until my grandpa sold him is first green tractor, minus the fact it was the first year for that tractor and the few problems you get with that, they haven't had any problems and dont mind it.

Having been around both, growing up, and making parts for both companies, I would choose Deere. There quality stndards, and design requirements, are far superior to IH. We made parts for everything from Pro Gators up to Sugar cane harvesting equipment, for Deere. Mostly heavy front end loader parts from IH. Would put both above Cat, with CNH on bottom.

The is only one brand to buy - FORD! j/k, I own a little Ford, but much rather would have a Deere if I could have afforded it.
