Cool new toy

finally! i got rid of my 'oo shadow ace 750. (purchased to lower ins) the replacement was picked up last fri.
an '01 triumph sprint s/t. this bike is very impressive thus far. not quite as fast as the rockets that i'm used to but very smooth and stable at very impressive speeds. definitely not a boat anchor like the shadow
bright red in color, can't wait to head back to tenn/nc to ride thru those mountains.

Sounds sweet!

Sweet sounding bike man! I agree... the drive through that section of the smokies is like no other in the country. It's absolutely breathtaking once you get up top.

Good luck, and be safe.

best roads in the country to ride. even better on a bike.
as i sit here in wis i have a pic on my desk taken from the top, just to remind me where i'd rather be. also one with my son and i standing next to a sign that reads "Warning steep, winding mountain road next 35 miles" my son said that it was like being on a rollercoaster only better.
can't wait to go back.

Hey Wildchild,

Congrats on the new bike. Did that ticket finally drop off your DMV? I haven't ridden the Valk much for the past few weeks. It is raining like crazy in Florida. We are on the threshold of some serious flooding after three years of serious drought. I can't wait until winter so I can ride again. LOL Triumphs are fantastic machines and a far cry from an ACE 750. I like the looks of those ACE 750s but they don't have much for cajones. Of course, after owning a Valk, not many cruisers feel like they have much for cajones. Enjoy the ride!

Speaking of Triumphs, what do you guys think of the new Bonnie? I'm glad they are trying to be true to their heritage but I think Kawasaki built a better Bonnie than Triumph did, and I don't really like either one. I ride with a brit bike club out of Mount Dora area monthly and there was a new Bonnie there on the last ride. Sitting next to all the originals there from the 60's, it really didn't hold a candle to them for looks, and only marginally in performance. Glad I got an old Triumph instead of the new one.

Of course the new 3's and 4's are in a class of their own since there really aren't to many Japanese bikes quite like them. They are not the 9/10's sport bikes like the big 4 are. They are more the sport tourers. More practical.

hey seacrow: thought i might see you here sorry to hear about the weather there. went through a pretty wet spell here too a short while ago. wish i could ride in the winter, maybe i'll haul this one down there with me at xmas when i go visit my dad in naples.
yep one ticket dropped this month, and another one goes in oct.
the ace was very comfy in town, however on the highway at decent speed ie:75 or better, you really started to wonder about your own sanity.
the best part about this bike is that they insure it as a sport tourer not a rocket.
having ridden my stepdads valk i know what you mean about other cruisers.
this triumph is fantastic. took it down one of our local twisty's this weekend and the handling was phenomonal. i also almost forgot about changing lanes with the point and shoot ability. now if i can just keep the local barney fife's from noticing me i'll be alright

irutt: i kinda like the new bonnies, seen my first one on the road this mon. when i stopped at the dealer to pick up some goodies. then again i wasn't around for the real ones. i did see a fantastic old one a few years back at road america. we were both there for the cycle races (just watching)
granted the kawi may have certain nice aspects to it, but, i have a problem with a co. building a retro model of another co's cycle. don't they have one of their own that their proud enough of to redo. ie: h1 maybe. don't get me wrong i like the kawi's over all just not the ws650. my girlfriend rides a kawi vulcan 800 classic, and i used to ride a zx6r.
i agree with you that this is no rocket but then again i'm not 16 anymore either the nice part about this bike is that you don't have to stay in a powerband. just awesome smooth power all the way through. also it doesn't redline at 13000 like the japanese bikes, only gets to 9500.

keep the shiny side up, and enjoy the ride
