I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Rangers. I owned several of them and they never let me down. My '93 4x4 actually pulled a 20' flatbed medium duty Chevy delivery truck out of a ditch once - much to everyone's amazement. And BTW, all of mine were Oxford White too.

I think Ford is making a huge mistake by abandoning this segment. How many young guys got their introduction to Ford vehicles via their first Ranger? Offering a reliable little truck like this at an affordable price point for guys in their 20's leads to lots of F-150's and Explorer's sold to them in their 30's and 40's.....

Now, if I young kid wants a new truck he can afford when he's starting out, where's he going to look -- Toyota, GM, Nissan.....???

BTW, think they got their money out of the tooling for this truck? The body style goes back to 1993 for crying out loud!

Yeah -- and the interior ran continuous from '96 with only a few minor changes like the headlight switch, the door handles, the power window switches, etc.

In 2003 I ordered a new Ranger. A long box reg. cab 4x4. It was in the cheaper xl trim with a rubber floor mat. It had the 4.0 with a trac. lock axle and auto. That little truck would really haul some butt. Oh, and it had the payload pac. too. I wish I had it back. The color in this image is off. It was a bright fire engine red.

Not me, it was a used F-100 custom.

As for how many, not real sure, but only 55K units were sold in North America in 2010 or about 28.8% of what the Escape did.
Orkin might be giving the last MY a bump with them buying stock, but that is end of life buying spree for a company that does not keep an eye out for something better, just knee jerk reaction.

Considering the High school thread, there were 328 individual members that make up the 878 posts for owning a full size F-150, it does not have to be new. I know my 1st Ford was not, and that was fine with me. Different time, new vehicles were for older people that had kids was the way ti was back then.

Just because GM is doing something does not make it right.
Better than 60% of the time, if GM does it, that is a contra indicator as to what a smart company should do.

Considering the incremental profit to the bottom line the Ranger is to the company, this is what needs to be done to make a company not needing a govt hand out, sorry meant hand up.

This is pretty sad, I started out in a Ford ranger and now moved on to a f-150 and hopefully a 250-350 one day...

It is a shame to see these trucks go away. I had two of them. A 95' reg cab 2wd and an 01' Supercab 2wd. Both 4 cyl 5-speeds. While they were good trucks that did what they were supposed to do, they were a bit dated and crude and rough riding but it was working with some very old designs. I wish they would have come up with a redesign and make it a bit more comfy and fuel efficient. I enjoy driving my F150 but to be honest, I dont have any real need for a full size since I dont tow or even really haul anything. I think a small crew cab would be a good fit for me personally. Need some passenger space but hate to be completely without a truck. But thats just me personally.
