Funky Rental Car

My job for the past 15-years has taken me traveling all over the country, and one of the benefits has been that I have been able to drive an amazing variety of different rental vehicles -- it really is neat to be able to "test drive" so many different cars for a few days at a time!

Well, last night when I landed in Tulsa, OK, at 11:30 PM, my choices were down to a Kia of some kind and this:

The only thing that's missing is a half-dozen 8th graders (plus luggage) from St. Wenceslas' Catholic Church singing "99 Bottles Of Beer On The Wall"......

That being said, I have to say that I'm a little surprised to admit that I actually enjoyed tooling around in this thing today.....:o

I had to drive a van one time when my co. truck was in the shop and I was
surprised at what I could carry. I loved the side and back doors.

That's what I have to ride to work on our vanpool route. What a POS. Engine and powertrain are great but the seating and fit/finish are horrendous.

As soon as I got on the road with the thing I was surprised by how much "get-up-and-go" it had! But the interior definitely appears to be a mish-mash of various era's of Ford bits-and-pieces.

Ford E series vans are indestructible. I've had a couple and they just go for ever. I have a GM one now and there is no comparison Ford is SO much better. My GM van is a POS. I've put more into it in a year then I did my Ford in 10 years and I sold it with 250k on it. The GM Van only has 67k bought it with just under 57k. Fuel pump went out water pump. Just did the rear brake last sunday. I hate the van. Its got equipment mounted in it I need for my business and I do like that stuff.

We just had to pick up a rental since the car went in the shop
Dodge caliber...
I'm disgusted with it already. Ugly as hell and drives like crap. Sounds like the engine is in your lap. Only 30k on it and my 12 year old truck rides and drives better. Shifts are all off key along with little to no acceleration. ****pit is horribly uncomfortable. It's going to be a tough 5 days with this tard can

Theres no way this things going near 100k without self destructing.

Steering wheel is thick and has nobbies across the whole back. Bout to rip it out.

My old work place had two Ford extended work vans with no windows. Was a pain to drive...no rear windows even...chocked full of ladders and hard cases that will decapitate you if you brake to hard..lol..don't miss driving that death trap

An offshore service company I once worked for thought that getting a cargo E-150 was a great idea. No windows, no panels, nada. No cruise control for long trips, either. Bless anyone who had to take that thing from Houston (ish) down into southern Louisiana (Fourchon) or down the delta into Venice, La...

A decent idea in a pinch, but they bought a Suburban right after that to address all that stuff.
