Rates could increase but I wouldn't say they will go sky high. If you are listed as the driver of the least expensive vehicle and just have liability it shouldn't be too bad. Also, they can raise the deductible and you put that money in a savings account and that will lower rates also.

Your parents are either going to have to add you to the policy or sign an exclusionary letter from the insurance company stating you will not be driving the vehicle.

There insurance will go up for a new licensed driver as well as being underaged and male....I would expect 30-60 per month or so depending on the coverage and vehcle.

Insurance on your own is going to run about $150-250 a month depending on which cars you are going to be driving and what insurance you carry.

Insurance will not cover any claim if you are found to be driving the vehicle more than a few times a year for emergency purposes which would be covered under their policy for dependants/immediate family members they loaned the vehicle for....but it could be 50/50 depending on the insurance company and accident involved.

You gotta pay to play Get on their insurance and pay your parents for it. 16 is a good age to start learning responsibility and taking on some bills of your own to prepare for your future. You may hate being in highschool now, but at about 22-25 years old you will be longing to go back to the "easy days"

Good luck and stay safe

We also have a another minivan thats my dads, that I might drive occasionally, would she also have to tell them I might be driving the other van also, and than basically I would be paying Insurance on two different vehciles, or since I would already be Insured on one vehicle could I drive the other one without putting my name on It, or how does that work. And so would my mom be paying for her and my name on the van or how does the Insurance company charge. Any guesses on what It would be for Insurance on a 1998 chevy venture mini van v6, and on my 1984 ford f150 v6 2wd answer all the questions. That would be nice.

I am with Progressive and have been for years. I had something very similiar happen to me this year. I ran over some rocks when they graded my road and caused almost 4k in damage. They not only didn't raise my rates they even called it a no fault accident.
thanks........
