Anyone know why I can't get a Lariat in sillver? I may not buy a new truck because of this.

 

I don't know why you wouldn't be able to. But come to think of it, I haven't ever seen one driving around. You live in Manitoba? I went fishing there about a month ago. Stayed in the downtown area.

 

In 1998 & 1999 they made a Silver/Blue Lariat, but I haven't seen one since. Maybe in 2002.

 

I didn't think Ford offered a silver Lariat at all. Maybe I'm wrong. I know when I ordered my '98 I can't recall Silver being an option.

 

Maybe I'm wrong. That's what I was told when I asked my sales guy the last time I was there. Cuz I wanted a silver one as well....much easier to keep clean than my black truck.

 

They only make the XL and XLT in Silver Clearcoat Metallic. That is why I got an XLT, that and I did not want leather... Just MHO

 

Ford probably doesn't have a Lariat label that matches silver paint.

 

My problem is this. I would like to buy a new 2wd. But to get silver I have to buy a XLT. (I'm tired of Black and really like the silver) All I need is a XLT but with a 2wd XLT you get no fender flares and the UGLY grill. Thats why 2wd Fords (not Lariats) are so good looking, NOT! I could buy a 4wd grill and buy flares, but then I have to get the flares painted and by the time I'm done, I've spent more than the $$$ diff on the Lariat. By the way, you can now order the Lariat w/o leather. And another thing, Why won't Ford let you order a 2wd with fog lamps like Chevy/GM/Dodge? I guess they want us to upgrade to a truck we don;t really need. Sorry. I'll go buy something else...
Maybe the 2003 will address these faults...

 

Match silver?
I bought a black/silver truck and it came with gold & maroon decals. Ford can't match anything.

 

My truck is Wedgewood Blue with Silver on the bottom and the Lariat stripes were Orange and purpule. Just awful. I ordered a whole new set of stripes from the dealer for the 2001 F-Series that are dark and light silver and they look 200% better. Just a pain to take the old ones off.

 

Hey Power Kid, Look at the XLT sport package. I'm getting it because I too am getting a 2wd, but I hate the "egg crate" grill and the chrome surround. With the Sport package you get the mesh grill and color keyed surround (like the 4x4's) along with 17" wheels. The only drawback is no fog lamps (same with any 2wd F-150) and no chrome bumpers. When I order my truck I'm going to try to trade out the bumper for a XLT 4x4 bumper so I get the fogs and chrome strip.

Not sure about the new ones, but in 99 all 4X2's came standard wit the V6 except the Lariat. By getting the Lariat I was able to upgrade to a 5.4L for around $500.00. On an XLT it would have been a $1500.00 upgrade.

 

You can no longer get the Lariat package on Regular cabs which stinks!
