I'm just finishing reading this and noticed that this will fool A LOT of people to think that Obama pulled them out but in reality it was Bush back in 08 and Obama wants to keep them there....

"Under an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in 2008, U.S. troops were due to end their mission in Iraq by the end of 2011. But for much of this year, Obama and his advisers have been trying to find a way to retain some troop presence in the country."

I just got back from there for the second time at the end of august. Looks like we might be leaving but something makes me highly doubt it.

Exactly my point in my first post, I don't see it happening, but it is what we need to do. Right now we need to focus on our own problems not other countries problems

We just had a conversation about this tonight after chow. I'm going to side with the group that says believe it when you see it. I will say this, there is a lot of talk over here about the drawn down and how we're getting everyone out and saving the tax payers some money in the process. They might be out of Iraq, but Kuwait can only hold so many troops. Before I left for Kuwait, a couple weeks ago, there were talks of keeping troops past the new year, and units were still showing up in August and September. Doesn't add up to me, but I'm just a Maintenance Sergeant.

Troops may be pulled out but after reading some new articles about this today it looks like the US security contractors will be staying. There are 9,500 of them.

That sucks, I like deployments. My buddy is over there and he said his camp is like a ghost town, nothing there besides the gym and chow hall.

Wonder which ones, I was trying to get a job with them since I can deploy basically as much as I want. But, alot said that they can't even hold a position for me. I have to ETS then hope I get hired and I'm not for that, lol.

Yeah when I was there all the big bases were downsizing and or closing. Most of them like someone said were ghost towns. By I'm infantry so I stayed out in the boonies with isf patrolling everyday. So I have no idea what the cos's/fobs/jbbs etc were doing besides what we saw the few times we went to any.

I think the one doing security in Kuwait is Triple Canopy or ITT. The guys that were up north with us were "State Department" but they seemed like some socom type unit, couldn't figure them out and most of them were Richards.

Obama may have plans for you guys. With everything going on in the Middle East, we may be involved in Syria or Iran in the coming months/year.

It's a well-known fact that we were behind the agitation in Iran in 2009, and Egypt, Libya, Yemen, etc., this year.
