I've always thought Temple was a pretty nice place for a town of that size. It's a pretty good drive out to Ft. Hood though.....

I told the wife, if I buy a house and then get out of the Army, we gotta live in a place where we'd be able to settle down. She wants to move around San Marquis, since it's in the middle of Austin and San Antonio, but no way I can do that. Renting is just expensive around Hood in general, which sucks.

Lots of nice little towns scattered about the Austin - San Antonio area -- San Marcos being just one of them.

Harker Heights is a nice place, affordable nice older homes too if your looking to buy.

Thanks. That's the place, real nice driving through it, so I'm sure it's a nice town.

Yeah, I have family in Pfluggerville, and if I ever did get out of the Army, I'd be a cop either in Austin or San Marcos.

Alot of the houses I seen there were in the $180k-$200k+. I don't plan on buying an house more than $160k and 3-4 bedrooms is good enough.
