Million Mile Ford E250 finally died.

Im sure most of you know about this million mile van but for those that dont here is a link

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjQcN1nq2UU

I just checked his website and this is what he posted on it

Million Mile Van is Dead. R.I.P July 30, 2011

The Million Mile Van has finally died. 50 miles away from home in Bryon, Ohio on Saturday afternoon July 30, 2011. The oil pressure dropped to nothing. I stopped, turned off the van probably at least a dozen times trying to limp it home. I would turn it off, turn it back on and that would make the oil pressure go back up but only for a mile or two then it would drop to nothing again. Finally at 1,299,986 miles it died. Only 14 miles from 1.3 million. For now I still have the van. I'm not sure what I'll do with it. If it was still running my plans were to put it on Ebay and/or a few other ideas but now that it's dead....the junk yard may be where it ends up. I will try to update the website soon. Thank you all for watching and cheering me on for these last 300,000 miles

A well-deserved rest, I would say. A shame he couldn't eek out the other 14 miles...

I don't think it deserves to end up in a junk yard.

After 1,295,000 mi. he probably put a piece of junk Fram "Orange Can of Death" on it and that was the nail in it's coffin. If it had oil pressure each time he restarted it, sounds like blockage in the pickup screen. Shame, I was pulling for 1.5 million miles.

And to think, he had over a million miles on it before he blew the 1st. (and I think only) plug out.

It would be nice if Ford gave him a new and used the old one for research. Personally I would like to see what he could squeeze out of an 3.7 ecoboost (if they come in a van.) From what I saw on the site, his maintenance was far from routine. I don't even think an old 4.9 six could pull off 1.3 million miles.
R.I.P. million mile van!

After driving a 300I6 for almost 200K in a '95 XL, (with almost 300K miles total on the truck when sold), I would put NOTHING past that engine. I honestly think that if that truck were a daily driver like it was for me, it would be well over halfway there....

Long live the 4.9!

He should fill it with gear oil and try and get the last 14 miles out of it.

yea his maintenance schedules are scary to say the least. I think Ford should offer to buy it back for R&D. If not R&D then they could use it for making commercials

Yea, the longest he went on an oil change was 50,000 mi. Course he did change it fairly often, just not by pulling the pan plug! I think he said it used about a quart per tank of fuel. Unless he's got a humongous fuel tank that's about every 4-500 mi.
