Emergency Job Interview Question

Without going into deep details I had 2 phone interviews with a company 5hrs away from me and now I have a in person interview tomorrow, which means I have to drive 10hrs round trip. I did research and spoke with the family but realize that it will not work (over this weekend) b/c I will be too far away (family not interested in going now but maybe in the future). I hate to burn bridges or anything and I would go to the interview just to go but its 10hrs round trip and let's not forget the money for gas. I'm trying to figure out what is the most professional way to go about this, also keep in mind today is Sunday so its not like I can reach someone today to talk to.

Thanks

If they didn't offer to fly you out or take into consideration your "commute", I'ma also thinking that you should pass.

I'd send an email today with a brief explanation of the truth (lots of folks get their email via smart phone) & I'd call them first thing in the AM to discuss & thank them for their time & effort, but after careful consideration, you are unlikely to take the job (if offered), as described & did not want to waste THEIR time with an interview.

Tell them if they pay you 2.2 million per year, a company king ranch ecoboost 4x4, 1000 per month mod allowance for the truck, and a your own personal maid/cook/nanny for the house you'll consider coming in for an interview.

This is what I'm thinking I just can't seem to put it in a email.

Just level with them and ask them for future consideration, as circumstances may change.

If they don't understand your family situation, and you've looked it over carefully, and know it will not work out. If they can't understand, it's not a company you want to work for anyway.

Right, -just level with them. It's a little late, but that's your fault really. I don't see an alternative.

Thank them twice for the consideration and that you have a continued interest in working for their corporation/institution. Unfortunately and at this time, it wouldn't work out (Explain).

Apologize for wasting their time, -in your own words of course lol, - you get the idea.

The company should have offered to pay for your travel expenses... Just my $.02.
