Sounds like you have some of the same issues we're going through where I'm at, you're not alone.

Nope your not alone at all. I was thinking the Army might be a better choice for me but now I might as well stay where I'm at and try to make a difference.

Some of my days at work really make me think if the military is just a daycare for grown ups.

Good luck with the assignment!

Well, I'm on emergency leave down here at San Antonio, I must say I'd like to be stationed at Ft. Sam Houston, lol. I have family in Austin and they are awesome, Riverwalk is awesome as well.

How is Ft. Hood? I'm not looking to PCS and deploy right away, but would if I have to.

I personally don't like it. Housing is BS. The gates are a mess when everyone's not deployed. Texas has this thing about putting all the businesses along the freeway and then having one-way access roads on either side so you have to turn around a mile down the road to get where you want to go depending on locations (hope that made sense its early here), it drives me nuts. Hood is a couple hours from Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, the Beach and Austin is a great town for music. As far as deploying its hard to say, some of 3ACR is down range and most of Cav is in Afghanistan the rest is in Iraq. Cav is already slotted to come back over here. I did hear the other day that they are getting ready to let a lot of the civilian police force go so might get to do your MOS more.

Again good luck with your decision. I know guys that have been at Hood for ten years and love it. I also know guys that are the exact opposite, only they couldn't leave because of fences and deployment schedules.

Yeah I do get lost from these exit's, but wife and I are loving San Antonio, I'm requesting it to be my main choice. Hood is last, because I just haven't heard someone say they like it yet, lol.
