Deploy Again
Cool new toy came through. I'll get it's video loaded soon on youtube.

Slats in, flaps down for a quick check.

And yesterday had to go up for a Ttail inspection of a torn seal with a Russian knock off JLG.

That picture of you in the man lift reminds me of when they sent me up in a bucket on a forklift to take the lights down in our maintenance tent. I swear the TCN running the forklift was messing with me, bouncing the bucket and all. Heights and I don't mix well.
Looks like you're having a good time, stay safe.

In other news, spent some time with the fire department leading a little familiarization on C17 doors and danger areas. They have a cool big boy toy.

In true Air Force fashion, one workin', many more supervising.

Brand new jet straight from the factory stopped buy. Had that new car smell still.

And also brand new out of a major overhaul, sparing 'er from the boneyard, a fresh superfred with shiny new CF6 motors stopped buy for a visit as well.

But in true C5 fashion, nothing perfect and she had a bad #3 MLG alpha tire all dinked up. Anytime I think my C17 gears are a little bit crazy, the C5 never fails to impress.

But we got it changed out easy 'nough, and the big girl was on her way.

Mountain view, and you can see my ****ered lens. Still pissed about that.

Oh well, till next time,

This week was a busy one. Goofed around with a Russian moat digger.

Got in a shipment of raingear. Not sure if it is the most tactical type. Wonderin' who the hell would order this.

Worked on cleaning a windshield and took some perspective shots.

West coast mountains of two different continents meeting up.

Nightline refuel.

And got to sit in a very cool presentation with this man, retired Army Col. Danny McKnight.

If you've seen the movie or read the book Black Hawk Down, you know him as the commander in the lead Hummer of the ground convoy tasked to collect the prisoners and then evacuate the wounded when the mission went awry.
Very interesting story and time I won't forget.

One more week down, and biz as usual fixin' broken big girls as needed.
Took me and my good buddy from my first deployment who was passin' through about 4 hours in this position to get a very seldom failed part in and out without really being able to see it. Oh well, not everything can be easy.

Was gettin ready to take some pictures of one of my Dover girls, but saw another bird on short final. First weight on wheels sensor that trips is noticed by a certain computer to automatically pop all 8 spoilers.

Then if the pilots lined everything up pretty they should be near idle at touchdown ready to let 'em rip wide open with the thrust reverser's screamin' for a short stop.

Quick video of my tow rig, and an easy pull job.

And some people are just special. Wing walker fail.

Not the best picture in my opinion, but I didn't take it.

Saw this and just started hummin' some CCR.

Don't really have a caption for this one.

Anyway, most fun of the week was I was able to get over to an open house of the MATV armored vehicles rollover simulator trainers. That was a good ole time for sure, and teaches the Army dudes how to get out quick from different angles if need be.

So I put together a video for our deployment, and was sorely disappointed how the scratch on my lens made the finished product come out with unacceptable quality. The last straw was an awesome picture from two days ago, that could have been my best from the trip came out horribly misfocused. Unfortunately today the once good Cannon I've been daily carrying has impacted the ground at a high rate of speed, and now have picked up an overpriced Cannon Powershot a2200. I don't think it will do everything I want, but should get me through the rest of this trip. Didn't want to risk Heather mailing me the expensive good hardware from home and it getting broken as well, or here way to late to be useful.
Anyway, compilation video from so far this trip. Language warning on the song.

This video is a little over two years old now, so I figure the statute of limitations are up on being posted. Language warning on standard flightline vocabulary.

After the camera charges up, we should be back in biz for pictures next week.
