Thank you for serving.

The good part is Chicago (Great Lakes) might be starting to warm up by then. That place gets freaking cold.

Good luck. What MOS did you sign up for?

MOS is the job you do, maybe they don't call it that in the Navy. I think it's Military Ocupational Specialty, or some such thing. Now I'll probably get flamed.

The Navy did, about 200 years ago .....and it never made sense to me either.

Actually, Rate does make sense.
You wouldn't tow a 12,000 lb 5th wheel with an F150 due to its 'Rate'.
Just as belts, hoses and chains have ratings, so do the finite number of available bodies aboard a ship.

You wouldn't put Master at Arms(MA) in front of a radar screen or behind the Ships wheel or even doing the laundry, due to their 'rate'.

Congrats! Military Police can be a rewarding and also very trying job at the same time. Been doing it in the Air Force for almost 13 years now. Can't wait to retire and do something else lol. Did you sign up for 4 or 6 years? Any signing bonus? You gonna be doing mainly Law Enforcement or Security? Or is it all combined together now like it is with us in the Air Force?

Air Force calls it "AFSC" or Air Force Specialty Code. Mine is 3P071 - Security Forces Craftsman

harleydude78, they are slowly changing their focus from law enforcement to more of a security / anti-terrorism focus, much like all the other Military Law Enforcement personnel nowadays. The funniest part is if migdaddy wants to go to sea, he's going to really have to stand out above his peers and try hard, as it's primarily a shore-based job
