Is it just here?
Is it just here?
Or everywhere that things are getting worse?
Lately the crime rate has went up here over 50% from last year (this time), with breaking and entering as well as robbery's way up.
This past weekend and the weekend before I have lost $35 of my own money to people at the race track me and dad run due to people being dishonest with me.
Getting pay for people when they are not even with that person, then taking off.
Never in 4 years of doing this have I EVER had this problem.
On top of that my (soon to be) wife has ran into a unmarked car with a blue light pulling people over by blocking them from the front on bogus "traffic stops" with no badge or uniform.
I am afraid he is casing people in that area (houses as well) for robbery as several other people have been stopped by him as well. Calls have been made but so far nothing has been done.
The office here that takes paper work for, and gives out CCDW cards has had over 500 requests this month alone for the 4 county area I live in.
It just seems that crime is on the rise at extreme rate lately, and I was wondering if anyone else is seeing the same.
My wife knows I keep my 9mm loaded (always with me besides work) and ready to go (just thumb safety) but still worries. I worry too because I never want to have to shoot someone but with this bogus cop and crime going up so much it may become likely.
I hope it never does though, but I am prepared to defend my self or others if need be.
We about have the house finished, but response time where we live is well over 20 minutes, and the I have no individual right to protection from the police if they even show up.

Things are getting worse everywhere, not just in your area. Not to mention, the suicide rate is up because many Americans are without work/money. The media never reports on that fact. It's heartbreaking.
As long as we allow the federal reserve (which is not federal at all) to continue printing (counterfeiting) paper money, things will only continue to get worse.

Ya it's gone up here also. Lady up the road had her car stolen one night a few months ago, another ladies quad was stolen, on 4th of July one guy had his house broken into while he was out. They took all of his wifes jewelery, money, electronics, whatever they could get their hands on.
The bank half a mile from my house got held up 1 or 2 months ago and the owner of the gas station got his truck stolen around noon one day about 5 months ago.
That's just all this year. Never really had any robberies until the past year, year and a half.

It's about to get worse if this debt crisis isn't fixed. After Aug. 2nd and it's not "agreed" upon, USAA stated we won't be getting paid on Aug. 15th, but they'll give us a "pay check" as a loan. Sucks for people like me who are deployed. Suicide rates will definitely go up then. Defending our country for free, hooah, lol.
I wish I would have just took my wife to get her conceal license and bought her a nice compact glock, just for safety while I'm deployed.

Crime rate has gone up alot here. I've had someone try to steal a wheel off my truck, when I was in a restaraunt the waiter tried to keep $7 in change when I payed him, and they at McDonands my dad handed the person an extra $20 on accident cause the two bills were stuck together and the guy kept the other 20. And with the ccdw laws getting tougher and tougher, I have a feeling that by the time I am 21, I might not be able to get one.

All it takes is one meth or crack head in the neighborhood to increase crime 100%. It is a growing problem everywhere, as in the past people could smoke weed or take a few pills, and put it aside. But the meth can be addicting from the very first time a person tries it. The that one person can commit several crimes each day just to support their habit. It is a growing and serious problem for everyone.
A friend of mine got on that stuff and from that day forward no one could believe anything he said. After three different rehabs, he still couldn't stay away from it, and ended up dying in a motorcycle accident.

your profile does not say where your home is. if it is south west florida i would be glad to help your wife get set up with what she needs to protect herself. or since my wife has her concealed permit and own little arsenal she could help her out. as a vet i know what it is like to be away and feel helpless. if you are not in southwest florida maybe someone else can step up and help you out.
As far as crime rate. In my neighborhood I have not noticed much crime go up at all. In the coast times, (a small local newspaper that covers coastal north San Diego) there was a report of bombs going off. The cops checked it out with the bomb squad and the whole nine yards and it turned out to be some kids in there back yard making bombs from vinegar and baking soda (I think) that they learned in Science class. Other than that, my neighbor had a party and had some Marijuana stolen. Its what he gets for dealing illegal drugs I guess.
OP- why don't you and the community get together and stop the wannabe cop?

My neighbors on both sides of us and my house have not been broken into yet, we're the only houses on my side of the street. I'm sure if we had the thugs living acrossed from us, none of this would happen. They have like 5-6 cars parked on their lawn and they all live in a 3 bedroom house.
My buddies wife is a cop, and he's my roommate over here, she responded to a shooting at a party on my street. I haven't heard how that went though.

It just seems odd a "cop" would pull in front of you road block style and then turn the light on and get out.
Well, I would not know where to start really, ive never personally seen the car and the girls have only been stopped at night. I have no idea what make/model or even color because they didn't write it down or look that close.

Not seeing any large surge in crime in my town lately, but we did have a rash of break ins recently at several gold buyers/sellers. These are basically places where people bring in jewelry to sell, so they have cash on hand as well as jewelry.
Some say crime gets worse in the summer and in a down economy, but I checked out the national crime statistics for 2010 and they say crime went down. I could not find any national info on 2011.
FWIW, in small communities the crime rate is often directly tied to a few individuals. When they get busted, move away or go back to school, the crime rate instantly drops.

Arkansas had "The Blue Light Rapist" about ten or so years ago. They finally caught him. But women were warned on the news and In the papers statewide to not pull over on deserted roads if a Cop in an unmarked car tried to pull them over. They were told to drive to the nearest populated area or the police station.
I spoke with the sheriff office and then the constable (who I know personally) directly about it.
Maybe it will get sorted out without anything bad happening.
