Mma

Who here trains MMA? I follow UFC, Strikeforce, Bellator, amongst other promotions religiously and its really all I think and talk about. I have a lot of friends that train and Im starting up tomorrow. Im so stoked! Career wise I want to do something in MMA. Not necessarily fighting, but something in that business. Its a huge booming sport, and I wanna be a part of it.

Actually I have a funny story about this. My mom has these special rugs in the house and we had to take them to a special cleaner to get them cleaned. Well, the cleaner also happened to be a Jiu-Jitsu master and had a gym at his cleaning facility that he trained people in. He recruited me and said I am the perfect size for someone to fight. He basiclaly recruited me to do it. I somehow got my mom to agree with it and trained Jiu-Jitsu with him for a couple months when I was younger and way before it was as big as it is now. I think I was something like 12 or 13, so about 10 years ago. I really enjoyed it but I liked lacrosse much more so I dropped Jiu-Jitsu and trained full time for lacrosse.

Its one hell of a work out from what I have seen/remember. Have fun getting you *** handed to you, Mig, physically and mentally!

What I find funny about the MMA guys in training is most of them think they are bad, we have a bunch of them around here that are "training" to be an MMA fighter. I have seen 3 of them pick fights with a good friend of mine, all three got hurt. I had one jump on me one night, and he couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag. They don't seem to realize that just because they can fight in an octagon doesn't mean they can fight in the street.

That's one of the problems with most fighting styles, and it really isn't the style, but the practioner. Most are sports oriented and have rules. If the practioner does not throw the rules out when in a street fight they will lose everytime.
