Storm Damage

Well all, I am new here. I just purchased my truck last Friday, and I posted pics of it. Well, we had storms roll through last night and I woke up this morning to this...

There is more damage to the passenger door, but I'm too mad to post any more pics at the moment.

This is the main reason I'll never own a Bradford Pear tree.

You know, at the start of storm season this year, I told my wife I should cut that tree down because they are so easily damaged, but I did an inspection on it, and it seemed okay. I guess I should have followed my gut. Well, you know what they say about hindsight. I can assure you the remainder of the tree will be coming down today.

At least I have insurance, and I know the damage is really not that bad, it's just the fact that I've gotten to enjoy my truck less than a week.

That sucks but it looks like you will only need a new hood and a new fender. They might fix the fender but front fenders are usually pretty cheap and would be less than the labor to fix it. It could have been worse.

Well the passenger door isnt' sitting right, and there's a massive dent int he roof that you can't see too well from the pics I've posted. That will be the most difficult / expensive part of the repair. My guess is they will replace the passenger door, and i have no idea if they can just pull out the dent in the roof or if they will have to cut it out and re-weld in a new piece (i really hope not). My guess is this will be in the 5-6K range.

I just got off the phone with the body shop. They have me booked to drop it off on 7/5. That was the earliest they could squeeze me in.

Well, I took out a lot of my frustration on that big Bradford Pear, which is now a pile of sawdust. At least I don't have to worry about the rest of it falling on anything. It really could have been worse. The day before it fell, my camper was parked there, and if it had fallen on the camper, I'm certain it would have been a total loss. More importantly, nobody was hurt, and the truck is easily repairable. My biggest disappointment at this point is that I was going to pull our parade float through the 4th of July parade for our cub scout pack. It's something I was really looking forward to, but there's always next year.
