Question Hydrogen cars

It is about time that someone has stepped up to the plate in an attempt to develope a new car. It just so happened that Ford was the one who announced it first. It is my personnal opnion but, I belive that they went about it in the right way (unlike honda). By that I mean that they took a body style that people have seen and now accept (Focus....not insight). I think that if they can get a new power source, without a loss of power that they should explore it to the end. 20 years ago, 10 years ago, and even 5 years ago people thought that the gasoline engine couldn't get any cleaner without sacrificing large amounts of power. With the creation of the enviormental friendly engines it was proven that technology has a long way to go. It will be the same way with the hydrogen line-up. Let the opnions roll, and the fossil fuel burners rant...I love my 460. Cody

The local university has a engine that runs on water. But its a pain to keep the Hydrogen production high enough to keep up with the motor.

Well If I could get my car to work on methane, I could fuel my own car! Ask Cowlady LOL

Anyway I think making the Focus into a hybrid or even hydrogen is a great idea! I agree that the Insight is butt ugly! And vthey should have made a lighter Civic version or something?

Well personally I think they should be able to make a 60MPG Full size SUV by now! Let's face it, the basic structure of the internal combustion engine hasn't changed since it was first invented! Why not make a change? Could the age old conspiracy be true about the oil industry keeping a tight lid on new technology?

I know that some Canadians created a special rotory engine that produces more power than a V8 engine while weighing less than an aluminum 4 banger!!! With great mileage and better durability because it uses less parts!

I first heard of this technology in the late seventies early eighties. Ford is going in the right direction. This is the wave of the future. Kinda interesting all the mud slinging going toward Ford now.Somebodies picking up real bargins... hint, hint

Have they discovered a new way to produce hydrogen that I haven't heard about? Has the cost of producing hydrogen come down far enough to make it economically viable?

well, I have been looking around, and the most popular form of gathering hydrogen seems to be from the photosynthesis of green alge. Not the job I would want.

hydrogen can be made from heating ammiona to a certain temp. that is only one way to make it. It is also natural in the atmosphere and can be bulked with machinery. I work with the development of fuel cells and we are some busy people here. we are about 1 year onto it and it looks promising but the fuel cell we are developing are for home use instead of gas or electric.

Thumbs up

Best mod for a 2020 Hydrogen Lightning? I was thinking about a new flux capacitator, but I wanted to see if anyone had one yet or not and if it improved the acceleration, or if it was just going to burn my heads off of the engine. Thanks in advance!
