spark plug change

spark plug change

i have a 2005 f150 with the 5.4 motor it will be going in for a recall i was thinking about getting plugs changed but have learned that job can be a nightmare dealer said $400-$800 dollars my question is should i do it now truck has 68000 miles on it runs great only a weekend driver any advice would be great thanks

There is a TSB out there on how to get the plugs out. The greatest concern is breaking the plugs. Lisle makes a tool that will remove the broken pieces and works pretty well.

Plugs in these are a pain though and unless you are up for some great frustration, it may be worthwhile to let someone else deal with it.

they have a tool for removing triton plugs in the 5.4 its $60 i saw it in a catalog at work.
