please help me!!!!!!

ok so i have an 04 f150 with a 4.6 ltr. im having problems with it starting but only after it sits for awhile? To get it strted i have to cycle the key a bunch of times and not just till the dash lights come on. You actually have to crank shut it off crank shut it off crank shut it off and repeat until it starts. which sometimes it doesnt. I already wasted money thinkin it was a fuel pump and the relays in the fuse box and a crank sensor. cleaned the mass air flow too.
Wierd thing is the fuel pump doesnt wine at all at key on to pressurize the system in makes like 3 faint clicks. and on top of all that i cant get into it with a scanner! it says something about unable to communicate with vehicle, does this mean my pcm is junk? and i read something in the haynes manual about a fuel pump drive module but it doesnt say much about it. Does this control fuel pump somehow? maybe if it does this is bad and the reason for the cold start issue idk? i am stumped and dont know what else to look @ as i thought it was a fuel pump for sure? help!

First check the fuse for the cig lighter, that should get you to be able to read the codes.

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed? A badly clogged fuel filter could cause the pump to shut off before the whole system is pressurized, and having to make multiple attempts at bringing the system up to snuff.

Just my $.02, good luck

If you wait long enough for the fuel pump to act up before replacing the filter you probably cooked the pump already.

I take it you tested pump pressure at one time, -how about the regulator ?

I don't think an 04 has a regulator - it uses a FPDM. YES, that DOES control the fuel pump and it's a high failure item due to corrosion.

ok so i took my cai off and shot some carb spray and it fired right up? cold start...so what maybe a bad fuel pump? keep in mind its brand new ,but yes i know it can still be faulty not likely tho... i didnt check the pressure bc the pump and filter are new, should i try the module.
