Southern Storm

Unless you live under a rock, I guess most of you guys know about the storm that swept across most of the south. Jus wondering if anyone on here was affected/knows someone who was? That thing was nasty.. I'm from Alabama so it hit close to home for me (literally it did hit home, Tuscaloosa).. But i was watching some videos and figured i'd share this one cuz it was pretty cool.

yea, i saw a video of it coming right down McFarland past the mall.. it was destructive. all of my dad's side is still down there they're all ok and most of them have jus landscape damage like trees down & stuff like that..

but one of my uncles who lives in Holt lost everything.. personal truck, work truck, trailer & all his furniture.. said he was inside when it hit. dresser fell on him in the bedroom but he thinks that's what saved him, cuz there's pieces of the bed in the front yard from where it got tossed..

All of my family is okay but there are many around here that have been severely affected either by the loss of loved ones or the loss/damage of property. I live about 45 minutes north of Phil Campbell/Hackleburg and about 2 hours north of Tuscaloosa; both of which were severely hit. The Phil Campbell area was completely devastated and those people are having to rebuild from the ground up. Last I heard the one that hit that area was an EF5 which is insane for these parts. Normally we see "peek-a-boo" tornadoes that hit and go right back up. The ones that hit recently stayed on the ground and were extremely destructive. Like I said my entire family is okay but many around us weren't so fortunate. My thoughts and prayers go out to them.......

I live in Tuscaloosa, right were the damn thing came through as well. Today for work I had to move someone out of a house that got hit and it was pretty sad. I've never seen anything like this in my life. It is nice to see a community come together like we have to fix things and help those in need, but to bad it had to come down to this to make it happen.

Scary stuff. I honestly didn't hear about it until today. The news is still all about the royal wedding. I don't see how this isn't bigger news than it...

well the royal wedding is more recent.. but yea, it's sad how we focus more on what other people/countries are doing rather than our own.

and yea, it is kinda sad that this is what it takes for people to unite.. and yea, they said the tornado was over 1/2 mile wide.. crazy destruction

Glad your dad didn't get anything, but I do sympathize with your uncle. My cousin and his wife were at her parents house in Alexandria when it ripped through there. Luckily it split up when it hit Birmingham so my grandmother and uncle/aunt in Oxford/Munford missed it. My heart still goes out to anyone and everyone in the area.

SCREW THE ROYAL WEDDING! It has nothing to do with America, nor will have any impact on our national society.
