Hopefully most of you have noticed that the “announcement” was totally fiction. The scary part is that so many people thought it was real. And that would be because …

Pretty funny.

Yeah, im a union guy, a shift steward myself. Im proud to be union. My union has fought hard for me, to get me and my family benefits from working a job that is inherently dangerous. I have seen first hand the benefits of being part of a union. The solidarity and brotherhood is something I am proud to be a part of.

Next time you guyz see a union member....

Tell them Thank-you

They've sacrificed in the past for what you're able to have today.....

Holidays, vacation days, sick days, weekends, safe work place, etc....

You think corporate America would really give you all this, if they didn't have too....

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!

Unions did all that? No way!

All we do is suck dry America, you know, we're the cause of the current downfall of the economy.

And its no wonder, with my $34,000/year salary.

They've had a great influence through both state and federal labor laws throughout history...

Ya know - I can't help but think that the union members who get most offended with criticism like this - which was simply posted as a joke - may be some of the worst offenders? Guilty conscience maybe?

Note that Stealth, a union member, simply laughed.

Unless they're 70 or 80yrs old they have not sacrificed much, if anything.

That's like a certain demographic claiming they're owed cause of slavery...

My grandfather was union all his life (machinist @ Pratt, firefighter and a CO), and he would be the first to speak out against the Unions.

They had thier time and place... now is not it.

If you bothered to read my opening line of my first post I remarked that it was pretty funny.

Trust me pal, doing what I do, you grow thick skin awful quick. It'll take a lot more than a likening to one of the worst shows to ever come across TV to upset this guy.

Guilty conscience? Yeah, its tough for me to sleep at night, sometimes I lie awake for hours wondering what i'll do with my millions.

I'm commenting more about work habits and attitudes, not necessarily wages. My son in law is union, and quite underpaid. In a way, I don't blame management for fighting to keep the wages down as much as they can - their work habits are very counter-productive mainly because of all the ridiculous crap the union has been able to get into the contract. Some of the stuff he tells me that goes on there is just ridiculous.

And I was first to do so. It was very funny!

In January I'll be running for Union steward in my department. Our current steward is a lifer shop steward and needs to go. Looking forward to being my fellow coworker's voice with my department's management and the company, when the time comes. Things usually work smoothly where I work, just have to make sure management and the company follows their own rules.

A union did not give me any of the above. I still work some holidays, some weekends, and my place of work is not exactly safe.

Workers are supply and demand. The more workers on the market, the cheaper the wages and benefits will be. If there is a high demand for workers, higher wages and more benefits will be given.

It's all a matter of if the company thinks you will help them make money or lose money.

Really Unions do all that huh?

The factory I work in is Unionized and I don't get any of that. I work 6 days a week, get very few holidays off, and it's definitely not all that safe.

The older guy who does the exact same job as me on a different shift has been an employee for something like of 38 years. He constantly whines about working, does his best to do the least he possibly can and is just a pain in my ***. It's a well known fact by everybody that this is the case. Yet he still has a job because they have to catch him several times before they are able to fire him without the unions throwing a fit.

I was forced to join the Union in order to be employed. If I didn't I didn't get the job. Now I am forced to give a portion of my check to somebody I will never meet or talk to in person.
