That makes sense to me. I guess I'm comparing your roads to that of the ones in the "concrete jungle" where I live. I'm envisioning cars driving bumper to bumper, mirror to mirror (as they do in my area) traveling at the speeds you have in Texas. Where as that's probably not the case at all? I'm thinking it's more like the occasional car traveling by at that speed? We're so congested with traffic here, it would look like an apocalypse of wrecked cars if we drove that fast. Well, our exception is interstate 95, but even that, at our highest posted speed limit, is only 65.

A while back when I lived in fl. A semi hit a stopped bus at 70. No skid marks. The semi driver was on his phone.

I moved to Houston from Minneapolis back in 1997 right after Halloween. The first that struck me as odd were all the people driving around with cowboy hats on -- I assumed they were going to Halloween parties, but wonder why they were still having so many costume parties the first week of November. It wasn't until a week or two later that I realized they weren't going to costume parties at all -- it was just that people in Texas dress like that all the time......

I had a similar experience. Last year, I saw a woman get run over by a dump truck, the truck driver apparently wasn't paying attention, turned right, and hit a pedestrian in the cross walk...

Gruesome.
