Oh man
Don't second guess yourself...you did a good job and probably saved his life or at least from serious medical complications.
Learn from this experience and the most important thing to do is remain calm. If you ever have the thought you should call EMS/911, don't let the person in distress talk you out of it...CALL THEM then and now. Waiting could mean life and death from when the ambulance gets rolling.
Besides, fire department is paid by your tax dollars....ya gotta get them off their treadmills and away from the Wii every once in awhile

Next time i will call EMS right away and waste no time getting help. I am really stressed out by this and i am a bit shaky myself right now, i am at 10% kidney function and i think i just went to 8..... lol
FWIW, we were once working in the middle of summer 18' below grade excavating a 40" valve when one of the guys runs out of the hole clutching his chest and starts rolling in the fetal position on the ground.
Long story short, he was given a new medication and had some mix up with another med he was taking.
Only other person I had ever seen in that much pain was just thrown from a motorcycle.

You did good bro, not much more you could have done besides call sooner. Chest pain is one of those things that as soon as it presents, just call 911.
Sounds like you kept your cool and did what needed to be done. Most people would have freaked out and run around with their head cut off.
Good job

You did good buck, best thing was to get him off the machine and got his pill into him. After that he refused assistance.
I'm a Scout Leader and I teach my boys 911 isn't first aid, But if you have no clue what to do then, then that is your best first choice. But only after first making sure it is safe for you to go in.

It's hard to think and make all the right moves in a stressful situation. You did your best and the guy is alive thanks to you so don't think you did anything wrong. I'd have been a blithering idiot so you did better than me! Hope he's going to be ok.
