Angry 96 mercury sable engine problem

Ok this is my unanswered question of all.

I have a 96 sable with a 3.0 OHV, It has sat up since 08, which was caused by the speed sensor, it has been overheating before it broke down, and it is misfiring, I know that the plugs, wires, distributor are all still stock, but the wierd thing it did was overheat when not in motion, when driving it does fine or when i give it gas in neutral, I took it to a mechanic to replace the speed sensor after needing to have a 2nd vehicle and they said it had a cracked head, just by driving it and seeing the motor missing, they said they have worked on and owned sables same as mine and they "Know" its cracked, but I never seen any water in the oil, it has old gas and hasnt been drivin in years, My dumbass uncle that worked for GMC for 20 years says "Oh it needs to be drivin and put some seafoam in it" HE IS A HARDHEAD I have been battling with him over this car trying to tell him that It needs a speed sensor and a ALL THE WAY TUNEUP *Which the mechanic said it does" but it shifts out fine but no speedometer moving. I wanted to get some clerification on this problem from experienced ford owners. None of my family has any Exp on ford motors except CFI engines. PLEASE HELP MEHH!

ill call bull**** on it lol. just by driving it?? give me a friggin break. from what i remember about the old 3.0's the overheating and missing issues were 99.7% caused by headgaskets. it was a design flaw and the gaskets would fail at the 10 oclock positions on holes 3 and 4 i believe it was. a 14 hour job which i did enough of that i was starting them at 8 in the morning and driving them by 3 in afternoon. job costs more than the car at this point. throw it out.
