Yep, that's still the place where the stack of dollar bills come in handy.

I use mine for 99% of my purchases and very rarely carry cash on my person.

There are no fees to use the card and it is generally accepted at almost every place of business. Is it widely used south of the border?

A couple of years ago I opened a US account in Alexandria Bay, NY, and they sent me their debit card, but why I get confused is that it has a Mastercard logo on it, but it's not a credit card, it's only a debit card, so why is there a Mastercard logo on it?

I don't own a debt card. I use a Visa or Mastercard credit card for everything. There are no fees associated with my credit cards.
I carry a small amount of cash usually in ones and fives for the local strip club (I previously used quarters, but the girls complained they were too cold against their skin and occasionally got lost... who knows where ).

My sons prefer debt cards. (Theirs are Visa with the Visa logo on them.)
So far most places accept either one. The one exception begin security deposits, they will not accept a debt card, only a credit card.

Shoot $5 ATM fees are nothing! I remember at my bachelor party, the ATM at the girl booty shaking place charged a $9 fee!

There is word they are going to start charging bank customers to use their own banks ATMs too. Some banks charge teller fees too if you go to a person.

Also I've heard banks are seeking to place maximum limits of $50-$100 on debit card purchases.

I guess it is back to Mattress Bank and Trust!

They do this because they can, because they can get away with it. Chase is the bully that is hustling the average citizen, and there is no one to stop them.

That's exactly the image I had in my head when I posted, LOL good call on the photo

I was listening to Stern a few months back and they were talking about one of those famous rappers who came in and they brought in a machine that made it rain "Dollar Bills".
So here's this dude with half of Fort Knox hanging around his neck and they load the machine up with a few hundred dollar bills, but right before they left the studio, the rapper went around and picked up the money and took it with him, ahahahahahaha

Check your account info. My bank allows the use of the debit card as a Credit card, and the amount is withdrawn on a given day of the month ( mine is the 25th ).

This is just another way for the bank to make money, through part of the CC fee that is charged to the merchant ( usually 1.75% to 3.00% of the purchase price ).

This is one reason I do not like using a Credit card with a local merchant, HD no problem ( the product margins take this into account, and they are at the low side of the scale ), but the local guy is usually paying the highest of the fees, and that is out of his pocket. Rather the 3% be used to put back into the business some how ( raises, expansion, etc ).

Recall the days of gas was priced 2 ways, 1 was cash, the other for a charge ? This is why. The next step from this was use the oil companies charge card, price was same as cash.

Myself, credit card for everything.
I get the rebate on my CC account ( Chase ) and I get to keep the money in my account collecting interest until the due date for the CC. The advent of online pay made this even easier, the electronic payment on the due date, the transfer usually records the next day, so I keep the money in my account for every hour I can, aiding in the average daily balance calculation.

Chase is basically paying me 3.75% ( 3% rebate + 0.75% interest on my account ) on my purchases to use their credit card.

They can charge $5 to use their ATM all day long for all I care, they are paying me to buy everyday items.

Thats what I do. Go buy a pack of gum at walmart and get cash back. Only costs about a buck and you get a free pack of gum!

That's what I do when I need cash. Only I'll usually pick up a Red Bull or something like that instead of a pack of gum.

I only use my bank's ATM, and that's rare since I use my debit card 99.9% of the time.

No.

And no debit card. Only one credit card and it is used only for emergencies when traveling and motels.
