Remington 1911 Disapointment

I checked one out today. Its a nice looking gun and feels good, the slide is real nice and smooth with no movement that shouldn't be there. But the trigger is HORRIBLE. Thats what kept me from buying it. Side to side movement like crazy and a ton of creep that went from light to hard then it finally broke after a half in pull terrible trigger.

I wrote a nice report on it and said this is my only concern and posted it on Remingtons facebook wall. It was deleted 15 minutes later. WTF

I've lost A LOT of respect from Remington. They cant even respond to my post they just delete it and throw the constructive criticism away.

Just makes me wonder because they seemed to throw away a lot of reports on the 700 article too. I dont agree with the 700 report CNBC did at all. But I liked to side with Remington on their response that they looked into every complaint. But after they immediatly deleted my review on it I have lost some respect for them. Didn't even bother to offer a response.

I have handled a lot of 600-800 dollar 1911's and this is by far the worst trigger I have ever felt in one of this dollar range. It is something you would expect to see in a POS high standard for like 400 bucks. In fact the high standard might even have a better trigger.

What a joke.

I've read that the Springfield Loaded 1911's are of amazing quality and they are priced relatively close to the same as that Remington, depending on where you look. There customer service is also excellent from what I've heard. I plan on getting one eventually.

Well I love Remington and wanted to check one out in person. I had high expectations for it since it held the Remington name.

But I will be getting either a Springfield or a Kimber now.

I have a SA Micro Compact it is a very well made pistol with a great trigger. The trigger is one of the most important thing for me when I look at a gun.

Me too. If it doesnt break clean then there is no reason for me to get it. If im spending 700+ on a firearm it should at least come with a good trigger.

Not surprising. Companies seem to be trying to "idiot proof" firearms. One of the things they do is set the trigger pull very heavy.

It does not surprise me that the Remington 1911 did not please. Somebody has to pay back the Gov't for the loans made to Chrysler. Yeah, it's all under Cerberus which is funded with Chinese $$$$. So to expect quality out of a new pistol is asking a lot. Before buying that Kimber, you might wanna know that Smith&Wesson makes their barrels and a lot of the parts are cast crap. No Kimber, and I own a high dollar one, is worth anything near the asking price. Springfields quality is so hit and miss you need to have the gun you are buying in your hand and if possible, shoot before parting with the money. I've seen slides fitting Springers off so bad I wouldn't pull the trigger on an empty chamber. But if you get a good one, they can be a decent shooter. Looking for cheap, decent quality, and a fair trigger that will break in like most others "target" triggers? Look for a Rock Island. Nope, they are not fancy but fit and finish are decent and I've never shot one that would shoot with other brands "target models" that cost 3 times as much and that includes the Les Bauers.

WTF? You really just reccommended buying a Rock Island? Compared to the Remington, yeah. Compared to a Les Baer... What?

FWIW, I didn't expect anything good from the R1911 judging by some other items I've seen Remington put it's name on lately.

Sorry, I had somebody asking about some specs from over the shoulder and didn't reread the post. The RI will shoot with the best of the 1911's. Some out of the box will beat most any 1911 regardless of price. They are a bargain for what they are. The triggers have always been far better than most others "target" triggers after about 250 rounds- it takes a little break in for one. You can build one up to a full blown match pistol and have less in it with a far better shooter than buying a Bauer. They are not the best in finish and they certainly don't have the flare of a Kimber but when it counts most, the RI is a great piece. Shoot one sometime, you might just surprise yerself.
