cassettes to digital!
cassettes to digital!
I was replacing a couple of shelves where i am storing some old electronics and a bunch of cassettes from 70's and 80's and they all fell on me! I had an idea, I wonder if I can turn the cassettes into digital format to put on my mini card and thumb drive (garmin and wife's fusion). Well as I type I am doing just that! Takes a while because you can only record at the speed of the song....but when putting them onto a digital drive from hard drive 18 songs averaging close to 4 or 5 minutes each (live Styx Return to Paradise) only took 60 seconds!
Going from my Technics cassette player (line out) to the "line in" on the computer using Audacity and Lame encoder to make the recordings MP3's!
Cool find!

Yeah, I know, right?
Just like you, I'm not replacing my 8-track music collection either with silly, lossy compressed files
Jim - they even sell hardware to do this...

For vinyl, too:

^^^ now that is gross!
NOTHING replaces a pristine vinyl recording.

I am doing it for free! Audacity is the program then you need to download an MP3 encoder which is Lame......good times......might have to let the buzz cut grow in the back! LOL
