Please "HELP" ASAP! True Flow Intake
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello everyone, I hope all is well. I'm in a bind. My truck is a 2004 F-150 and I installed a True Flow Cold Air Intake 4-5 years ago. I went to smog the truck for the first time (7 years old in CA) and they wouldn't even consider trying to smog it because there is no sticker my my true flow intake. I know is was/is CA legal, but I must not of put the sticker on the truck. It's my understanding true flow is no longer in business. Here's the kicker... I cleaned my garage 2-3 months ago and I threw away the original ford intake. I cannot get the truck smogged unless I either come up with a sticker or try and find a factory intake to throw on there. Any suggestions? freakin California!!
Worst part is the CHP gave me a ticket for expired tags. We paid the registration, but didn't realize the truck needed smogged. No smog... no 2011 stickers!!
FYI- If you search richgonfishn... that is me. You will see my green F150. The richgonfishn email is no longer in service and I cannot remember the password.

My recommendation is make a phone call to another manufacturer, like Airaid. Tell them you have their intake, but failed smog because you don't have the sticker with the CARB approval #. Have them email you a .pdf of the sticker. Print up their approval certificate with CARB #, tape it to your intake over any stickers that show yours is another brand.
It wastes a little bit of Airaid's time, which is not cool, but it may be the quickest most effective way to get your truck smogged.
Basically, I failed the visual the first time I had my Airaid on, because Airaid sent me nothing with the CARB approval #. So I called them and they emailed it.
I love the 'visual inspections'. Fail the visual (no CARB Approval # on an aftermarket part), and fail the test, even if your pollutants are 1% of the allowed amount.
FWIW, I also failed the visual once when the little plastic coating on the filler neck opening had a tiny chip out of it (size of a small fingernail clipping) from years of pumping fuel. Ford wanted like $300 for a new filler neck. I chiseled them down to like $200. Total hassle, many phone calls, several trips to the smog shop and dealer, had to get my tools out to replace the filler neck, etc...Took hours of my time and lots of $ even though my truck was WAY under the allowable smog limits. I was pissed.

And people wonder why California is the joke of the country -- what an absolute ==== that place is with all their pointy-headed bureaucrats running around trying to save everyone from themselves.....

My suggestion, move out of California.
If that intake was ever legal then the ref would have records of it. Might want to go the referee and see what they have to say. If it is legal then they can give you the paper work for the next time too.
And yes Calif smog inspections suck!

Props to you guys that have to deal with inspections and test. I thought having to buy a plate sticker every 2 years was a hassel
The mustang has a sticker on the rad support saying it is not allowed/will not pass Cali laws
To the op, I say junk yard like 08stx4x4 said. Good luck bud
