off to alaska
I would love to get stationed up there. I am trying to get there but it's looking like I am gonna be staying in California for a while longer. Good luck with the move and have a safe trip!!
a little update
well, we left our house on tuesday afternoon. we drove to buckingham, va near richmond to visit my wife's grandfather for a couple days. we are rolling out of here early tomorrow (friday) morning. i haven't uploaded any pics yet since i am one the home computer here at the house. i'll get some wifi connections in the hotels and post up some pics of the road from the front windshield. thanks for all the prayers and safe wishes. i'll keep this updated.
Who did you tick off to get sent there? In the movies anytime the soldier gets in trouble they send them to antarctica! Nah, id like to go there...just to visit of course.
Pretty country. and id like to go hunt bears or Moose or something. That would be awesome.

Good luck with your move! The road trip sounds like fun.
Not sure I'd want to be stationed there, but visiting is nice. My uncle lives in Anchorage and my Grandma lives in Palmer, AK. We're going out there for a week this summer. Wish I had time to drive out there instead of flying. I really miss road trips.

well guys me and my family have successfully made to fairbanks, ak. we are staying in temp lodging right now with a crappy internet connection so i can't upload any pics of my trip. i'm at work right now and don't have the pics here either. we are moving into our house on friday and i'll be able to set up the pics this coming weekend.
all in all, the trip went pretty good. my truck performed very well in the snow and mountains. i did have a slight scare when i was going sideways at 50 mph on a bridge, but it all worked out. i will be sure to post up some pics as soon as i get into the house.

Nice, glad you and your family made the trip safely. Looking forward to seeing the pics from the road trip. Alaska looks really nice. I'm hooked on Alaska State Troopers on Discovery or History channel. Definitely seems like a different world up there.

I was up in Anchorage at Elmendorf AFB in 1973
