My in-laws have gone on to the great beyond. Except for my brother in law and I go to his place.

Everyone on here knows since the hottub episode outside Buffalo Habs is personna non grata at the border, ain't no way he'd make it this far south. Hell, he won't go near the border, the warrant may still be in effect.

Being in TN, and seeing how easily stuff gets closed here at 2-4" of snow, at what point, buck, does your area have to slow down? What I mean is, for those areas prone to lake-effect snow, how much does it take for schools/businesses/etc. to think about closing?

Always been curious.

usually when storms are so bad that you cant see where youre going and its not safe to travel. some schools closed on monday but i was kinda surprised to see that.

It was -4 here on Sunday and -2 yesterday morning. Today it hit 33 and tomorrow a chance for some sleet and freezing rain---I would rather have snow.

We added even more insulation to the home and we are still burning more wood than I would like.

Well for example monday when i live south of buffalo it was -29 and the schools were closed, they have a limit on how low it gets before closing and it is -11. If we get major lake effect where it is snowing 2-3" an hour and it has been snowing for 4-5 hrs things may begin to close. I have seen this area function with 2-3 ft on the ground after a brief closing of a couple hrs to get ahold of the snow and get it moved off the main roads. life here goes on and this year has proven a tough one..

I'd say, though, that there is much more equipment for the removal of snow in that area than most places. I don't think the entire state of TN has 200 plows. NYC has almost 10x that alone!

Yes we have plenty of equipment but when you work the people non stop for days are at time things get messy and also equipment breaks down. But i do agree we have whats needed to move snow in any amount. and a crapload of nasty salt....

We have about 200 plows in four counties. We get some nasty lake effect here, but nothing compared to what Bucky gets up there.
