Leer shell disapointment
Leer shell disapointment UPDATE BUYER BEWARE
I just had a leer 100xq shell installed on my 07 f150 supercrew matching paint e.t.c. its 4 hrs old
The back door glass rubbed the paint off paint in 4 places and you have to slam it for the latch to work. I returned it to the dealer and they monkeyed around with it for half an hour. then told me they were going to have to space the whole canopy up with some shims I 'm assuming flat washers. I refused saying I paid more to get the best model and it should fit.

The glass door imo if just to big for the opening and needs to be made smaller. The also said they would have to have the truck for a day So Carlos could repaint it. WHAT!! No freakin way, have leer make me a new one and have it shipped. Am I being unreseanable here ? 2000 dollars for a simple shell and it does not fit

After looking into the whole install job this is what I found in the wiring.

Wires wraped around the brake cable WTF. plus both screens are warped
It gets worse
they want me to bring the canopy back so they can send it back to the factory and shim it and patch the paint, I will be out of a canopy for 4 weeks. No freakin way! I told them to send me a new one thats not scratched. they said tough No. I told them I had a brand new bedrug installed and I didnt want it to get wet. they offered me and aluminum loaner ya right like I'm going to put that peice of **** on my truck.
Never again will I buy a leer product Had I know that they were going to treat me this way. I only wish I would have used a credit card instead of a check they use that instant check cashing machine. I'm screwed long story shot never buy from leer or all american canopies again.

A related story about Leer. My Father bought a Leer for his truck about 20 years ago from a Leer dealer. He wrote a check for the top. The dealer installed the top and my Dad drove off. When he got home he noticed it didn't fit square on the bed rails. He went back and the dealer called Leer and then replaced the top with a brand new one that fit perfectly. Several months later my Dad noticed his check didn't clear the bank. He waited a couple of more months and still no canceled check. He called the Leer dealer, the owner said no worries they are sometimes a "bit" slow depositing checks. They both forget about it and after about two years the dealer calls my Dad and "fesses" up. He was cleaning out his filing cabinet and found my Dad's old check behind the drawer stuck to the back wall of the cabinet. He asked my Dad if he'd consider writing a new check. My Dad dropped by the next afternoon and wrote a new check for the full amount. Two years later my Dad died, as my Mother and I were going though the estate papers we noticed the newest check to the Leer dealer still hadn't cleared his checking account. We were anxious to settle his estate so we called the dealer. We found he'd gone out of business right about the time my Dad wrote the new check and we couldn't locate him. I used the truck for 6 more years before I sold it with the Leer top still on it. Best damn camper we ever owned.
