Anyone with welding knowledge?
Right, it sucks/time consuming, but it can be done with more than enough penetration. Believe me, I've tested it lol. - Good practice for a beginner.

I got a 120 A Astro gas/no gas welder some time ago, the key is to take your time.
The other thing I found, you can get a 250 A welder, if you have a crap circuit to the outlet for it, the transformer will keep cycling.
The 130 I got is a 120 V welder input voltage, and 28 A draw, I used a 30 A breaker and installed 8 AWG wire to the outlet in the garage ( shortest route to get there ). 10 AWG would work with 35 A, for general items.
Don't make the transformer work as hard with the input voltage and it will be good to go.
I did the SS xhst on my 2001 with it, I am not the best with SS welding, as I have not done it a lot.
The small box welders will work just fine, as long as you are welding correctly, not trying to use wire as glue.
Also, keep in mind the design of the item you are building, make sure to have supports in the corners where they are stressed. This is all building 101 items.

Also as SCULLY said, keep the wiring the shortest distance possible
who do you weld for avfrog? ive been welding for about 3 and a half years now and i just finished school with my welding diploma, but i have about 8 more weeks of a nuclear pipe acadamy to finish through progress energy and im trying to find a good company to get on with.
FYI..
Basic rule of thumb is 1 amp per .001 material..
Example 1/8"=.125 so 125 amps and up..
1/4"=.250 so 250 amps and up..

Ask a few others there that don't know anything about what you claim you did and see what happens next..
