Hip Fracture

Well I did it, fell on the ice and fractured the upper part of my femur. It was a hairline fracture, but complete across. The surgeon had to put in three screws to keep the fracture from completely separating. Now I am laid up on work mans comp, as it happened on my job site. I am hoping to get back to work on light duty in two weeks, but we need to see how fast this heals. Right now it is painful for certain motions.

Great New Years present.

Look on the bright side -- if you were 80 years old you'd probably be a goner.....

I bought a couple of sets of 'Yak-Trax' cleats to hook onto my boots after falling a couple of years ago. Those thangs really do work, but don't wear them linoleum or hard wood floors.

Ouch! My aunt fell on some ice walking out of the Mall of GA about 2 weeks ago and shattered her knee cap. She had surgery last week and is going to be out of commission for another 6 weeks at least.

Hope you feel better soon !

Thanks for all the well wishes. I need them all

S dave, yea we have short term, pays 70% of my pay. Plus they will suppliment the 30% with sick pay that I had acccumulated that the company no longer pays new employees, so i should be good.

Ironically, someone fell on the jobsite but did not hurt themselves, and the correction to the accident was to buy Yak TraKs, but hey did not come in when I had my accident.

You are indeed a "lucky" one, Workers' Comp only pays about a max of $400 here.

What kind of jobsite are you on? We do heavy industrial, power plants, refineries, etc.
