They use a larger gauge needle, it, not sure but I believe it's a 16 gauge it fills the bag up faster. I have a somewhat rarish blood type so I give very often, usually every 3 months or so. It helps that I have a medic blood center five miles from my house. I think I am up to 4 gallons now. I don't care for needles myself but there is a trick, if you concentrate on wiggling your toes one at a time it seems to help distract you from that needle *****. Least it works for me. If any of you are interested you can also sign up through medic or your local blood drive place to be a bone marrow donor. I'll not lie it's painful as hell and the shots leading up to the donation suck but, it's completely worth it. kudo's to all of ya'll for giving, somebody and their family somewhere appreciates you!

Anyone else here give?

Its hard for me, I am deathly afraid of needles but I gave anyway.
Figure some one else might need it more than me, and from what I understand AB+ is not so common.

Just wondering, if anyone else who hates needles gives anyway.
dude! I believe you are .6% of the worlds population, meaning you are the rarest blood type of all. They are sooo gonna bug the heck out of you now!!! haha just think of all the free cookies and pony soda pop's you'll get and the free t-shirts. good for you though none the less..

I've never given blood but have had more needles in the last 10 years than most people will get in a lifetime. I'm not crazy about them but I just look away.

Is it true that in America they pay you guys for blood? I always see that in movies where they show some down and out loser who went to the blood bank to sell a pint of blood, is it true?

How much you get?

I should find out about donating, what an excellent idea.
Ok Titan, this makes up for the tools on the leather seats

Habibi, yes they pay you for blood "products" plasma being one of them. I think it's like $20 or $30 I'm not sure. Donating plasma is an even bigger needle, or so I've heard.

1% of the US has AB-
2% has B-
4% are AB+

according to this.

Depending on where you look I have seen anywhere from 4% to 3%.
But AB- IS always the rarest, no matter where I look.
