Ok, well I was a lurker for a long time, fixed about 95% of issues without having to even ask a question, so I would like to give back... My poor baby(truck) got hit by a drunk a while ago, right square on the wheel. This is something I learned from that experience. When you get insurance, there is an option, that in the event that you are in an accident you get a direct replacement loaner viehicle, (i.e. I own a truck, I'll get a truck) I honestly did not know that I had it. Well when I went to my repair shop, b/c her insurance said that the determination(SP) of the accident hadn't been proven yet, (I called at 4am right after it happened, and the cop told me to leave, so I didn't know the result i.e tickets or what not) so I called the people I pay a s*&t ton of money to and they handled that part.
I went to the repair shop, and they said Sir, while we inspect your truck, your new temporary truck is waiting for you outside. I was kind of expecting to get a lil itty bitty P.O.S. loaner. But, there was a brand new F150 crew cab, waiting for me. I had to ask how much extra that was going to cost, but they assured me that it was free, well it was..but I paid for it from the beginning. The whole time I'm thinking that insuance is going up and I'm gonna have to pay for all this.
After two weeks of having the rear axle changed, and driving this brand spanking new truck, I figured its has gone to good, and I'm about to get F(&c*ed. Her insurance tried every possoible way to weasle out, but the people I pay to insure my truck, fired back adn I didn't pay a dime.
So after all of this I called my insurance to find out exactly how much extra I was paying for the direct replacement thing, I found out it was $1.50 a month.
So the whole point of this long post is, that, that lil extra saved me from having to find a new way to make money while my truck was being fixed, b/c her insurance said strait up to me, that it wouldn't pay for me to drive that truck, and a cobalt was a perfectly fine replacement. But apparently my insurance lawyer ppl play harder and won. And that I will glady pay that extra $1.50 a month to be able to keep paying the bills. Even though the wifey tries oh so hard to keep the insurance as high as humanly possible with her lead foot. Anybody got a fix for that?
