My now deceased ex father in law was on the Board of Directors many years back. He tried to get me to move north and go to work for them. Needless to say I have no place in the northern states. At one time I was a member back when Neal Knox was pretty much running the show. After they railroaded Neal and decided to steal as much money as they could from the NRA via special interests, I decided I didn't need them anymore. I still don't need them anymore. Ask the folks of California about not being able to use lead bullets. Where was the NRA? I'll tell ya, they were back home making phone calls asking people for more money. Ask any new member just how many pieces of mail do they get WEEKLY asking for more money. Just ask a new member how often do they call asking for more money. And their gun insurance is worthless. I had a policy with them to cover the COLLECTOR value on a bunch of 1903 Springfield rifles. Some were one of a kind. Some were Mark I's, some were National Match. I had them all appraised and pictures in their files. Well I got burglarized and you know what. Because my home owners insurance paid, not for the guns, but the damages to the structure, they wouldn't pay. I lost TONS of money over that deal. So if you have their insurance, you need insurance because theirs is worthless. As far as I'm concerned, it's a worthless organization dead set to fill their own pockets with uninformed peoples money.

So is this more like what yer looking for?

^ exactly! Now what about GOA?

Do any of them actually do what they claim? How much power do they really have?

GOA = Grassroots of America

We'll see. I was a NC member and it expired. This Castle Doctrine is up for vote soon here in NC I believe. I hope it passes. Basically says you have a right to defend your home from burglars. Current law says they have to threaten you before you can shoot. IE they can walk in your door, pick up your TV and you get to call the cops while they walk out. Stopping them is, false imprisonment as NC does not have citizen's arrest.

Gun Owners of America is noted for being there when needed. They were in California to represent the gun owners, unlike the NRA. But the GOA has a reputation of being a little too much. They openly support the development of militias. Not that a militia is a bad thing but with no supreme body to control it's function it can easily get out of hand. Just like we don't need to march to the music of the Gov't, we don't need a bunch of meatheads out there shooting at our military because they don't agree with the President. The GOA has been gaining in membership as a lot of the NRA members are fed up with the money squeezing tactics of the NRA. But in reality, neither has much control over the events concerning guns. Only the voter has some control and of course, that's limited as politicians are noted for telling you what you want to hear and then doing something else that enriches their pockets. Kinda like the Republican Party we just sent to DC that takes control of the House in January. They apparently didn't get the memo and it's going to be business as usual. The Republican majority leader has already appointed his buds to high positions and some are dumb as a fence post and have no clue about the value of a dollar. So don't expect there to be any budget cuts or reasonable spending.

Now if this bunch was more active in protecting all gun owners rights, I'd probably send them money. But you need to know, the NSA considers these people, our retired military and police forces, as terrorists.

GOA and SAF are actually out for US and protecting the Constitution. The NRA has gone the way of government and simply seeks to perpetuate itself and increase its influence.

I always figured, if I was in that situation, I would just shoot them and drag them to the door.

That's why you yell at them when you see them walking out with your TV. You only have a couple of seconds to react, so be ready, but when you yell they'll turn around. Especially if you yell something strange like, "Hey! Don't forget the toothpaste!"

When they turn around... pop 'em.

"I dunno officer, I was in fear of my life. They were coming right at me. I thought they were going to use the TV as a bludgeon."
