For John Lennon
I've never been a John Lennon fan. (Nor the Beatles for that matter, but that is purely based on musical preference.) He and Yoko treated Julian like crap, and were a leading force in the anti-war sentiment during Vietnam. The guy was a pseudo-intellectual leftist with questionable character. He didn't deserve to be shot in the street by Chapman (or anyone else.), but he hardly deserves to be revered either.
He did have an interesting and rather apt quote though...
"Everybody loves you when you're six foot in the ground."

I'm the opposite, I'm a huge Beatles fan. They were the best of my generation for making music. They were the pioneers for more musical innovation than any band ever. The balance of their music has never been achieved again by anybody. The collaboration between the four to make the music is what made them great. John, by himself, never achieved any glory like he did under the Beatles banner. Paul did much better alone than John but again, didn't achieve the same level of greatness. I think Yoko was the downfall of the Beatles. What John saw in her we'll never know. Obviously, it wasn't beauty.
Here's one of the firsts in music by the Beatles. This is an abstract song. The words make no sense but the phonics are great. John wrote this to confuse an English class that used their music to teach children the proper use of the language.
