He was one of a kind. Lots of great memories. I got to see him play when he was at SMU. He was such a prankster. The story is told that he once put a hot water pad/bottle on his chest under his uniform and when the great Sam Huff blitzed and drove him into the ground, it burst and released a red liquid all over Meredith's chest. They say Huff turned white and nearly fainted, thinking he had killed him.

Just yesterday my youngest son asked me where SMU was and was it a great football school. I told him Dandy Don was a great QB at SMU and probably brought it into national prominence. He didn't know who Dandy Don was so a discussion ensued.

My son was on the computer earlier today and hollered to me that Don Meredith was dead.

He sure gave everyone some good times to remember.
