Dodge claims 392(6.4) Challenger runs 12.4!
That e.t. sounds about right for the horsepower and weight of that car.
Did they do any weight reduction with the 392? I recall one of the Challengers problems was it was alot heavier than the Mustang. I don't recall what the 2012 Mustang BOSS 302 runs in the quarter off the top of my head. I love these muscle car wars though!
the challengers look cool but are really really heavy
The article says they're still heavy at 4200pds, but it wont be too much longer before the CAFE standards kill most of these muscle cars. Get them new while you can because the performance cars of the future are either going to be some sort of hybrid or electric car.
Yeah like 4200lbs+ so its gonna drive like a big car not nimble like the mustang. Thats gotta be underated some, gain a whole second from a 45hp 50lbft increase! That doesn't seem right to me at all. Its teh srt8, so that comparable to the gt500 which it looks like they're running similiar times with supposedly 80 less hp. Of course i imagine the gt500 isn't that easy to launch.
And yeah by 2025 they want cars to be able to get 60mpg. The only way thats possible is if the cut us down to 2cyl hybrid junk. Say goodbye to trucks, this country can't do without trucks!!!
Don't be suprised if down the not to distant future a Mustang GT has a Ecoboost V6 in it instead of a V8. Will make alot of old school guys up in arms but if you can get the same performance and much better MPG do it. They probably will offer a V8 as an option though. Just my guess...
And dear God, please let that Boss outrun a 12.4!!! hahahahahaa

12.4 with a professional driver on a good weather day with a perfect track sounds reasonable to me.
Of course, that equates to about a 13.9 with an average driver on an average track and less than perfect weather, lol. |

I would like to hear one of the V6 ecoboost run the 1/4 with a good exhaust system. The 6 cylinders have just never sounded good to me.
