What this election means.

Some people are happy with the results, some are not.

What the results mean to me is a little more:

To me, balance is far more important than majorities or super majorities.

What do you think of the results of this past election?

I was watching some Democratic commentator last night, who made a very good point. The fact that the Senate did not go to the Republicans but the House did, could be an indication that people still don't like the Republicans. That would mean the only reason they won the House is because the American people really didn't like what the Democrats were doing. It actually makes sense, if you think about it.

Hopefully the Republicans take heed and don't get a big head. If they take heed, support what the people want, and keep their promises, they will be re-elected and will most likely win the Senate next time. If they do whatever they want, they will lose during the next election. People are still angry about where this country is headed and they will be watching the people who were elected last night to make sure the appropriate changes are made to the government.

The senate not going Red could also just mean that the wrong 1/3rd of the senate was up for reelection this time around. What did that commentator say about Obama's old seat going red? What about Ohio going completely red on all three fronts after having gone blue in the presidential elections.

The people on TV are not there to analyze, and when they have bias they're going to spin everything to suite their opinion..

Honestly, I am extremely happy with the election. I am glad to see that this country has realized that the people representing us have lost touch with their constituents. Its refreshing to see some new people coming to Washington, maybe something good will come of it.

Americans expect microwave results in all of the things they do. If something is changed and it doesn't instantly change they flip dramatically the other way.

In today's climate, many of our greatest leaders would have been 1 and done.

As far as Obama's seat going to Kirk...not a big deal considering the participants. In 06 Alexi touted himself as a know it all banker that was supposed save IL and he lost big bucks in our 529 program and his family's bank was taken over due to mismanagement!

I guess the Dems could have made it easier for Kirk and Blago could have run!!!

Lucky for the Democrats only 37 seats were up in the Senate. For the first time in decades, there will be less than 200 Democrats in the House of Representatives.

It is clear. This is a rejection of Obama and his policies. Any other explanation is spin.

Could you imagine if all Senate seats were up in 2010? It would be approximately a 65-35 to 70-30 split for the Republicans. Not winning the Senate (which was not going to happen anyways with only 37 seats up) will be a political advantage for the Republicans in 2012 since they only control the House.

Rick Perry won again in Texas. He will be the longest serving governor in Texas. I will be very surprised if he does not try for the Presidency in 2012.

Just watched part of a video where Obama was being questioned by the press. He said he thought the voters reacted to the ugliness of bipartisan politics rather than to the laws being enacted. He is either refusing to accept the message or just trying to put political spin on it. Surely, he is not that stupid. I couldn't watch anymore after that.

Insanity is trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. If he continues down the path he is going, he will be a one-term president like Jimmy. Jimmy Carter paid more attention to his ideology than he did to the economy, and he paid for it.

Americans do not want bipartisanship when it comes to socialistic policies. I am sure he knows this, but he is an ideologue that wants his agenda (progressive/socialist/Keynesian) advanced and he can see it slipping way before his eyes.

That much is obvious from how he and his cohorts have acted over the past 2 years. They seem to believe they know what's best for us, regardless of what we say.

I don't think the man is stupid, just very, very out of touch with the country he's supposedly "leading".

I think Obama is perfectly happy to listen to the people.

Except when they are 'wrong' on important issues, such as healthcare.

I woke up today just as peesed off as yesterday. The fact that I had Harry Reid or Sharon Angle as my choices for Senator has made me ache since the primaries. I do feel better about the new balance in Congress.

If you watch TV news, whenever the Democrats win it is a mandate, whenever the Republicans win it means people want bipartisanship. It is quite laughable.

Republicans picked up 60 seats in the House, 6 Senate seats, 8 Governor's seats and control of 17 state legislatures. A stunning victory, and very significant. The largest change of power in America in almost 100 years, certainly in any of our lifetimes.

It was an overwhelming rejection of National Health Care and large government, including deficit spending. There was also a national feeling of time to clean house, and with the Democrats being the overwhelming majority, they received the overwhelming cleaning.

Now we get see if Boehner can pull together a coalition and implement some of the campaign promises. It is unclear how Obama will react. Bill Clinton governed effectively after losing both the house and senate, but I doubt that Obama will be able to do so. We'll see.

To me it seems like an overwhelming response that most American people are NOT happy with the DNC. Since the only other real choice was the RNC they won big. Now it is time to see what they can do with it. If nothing else they put the Obama administration on a very tight leash.

Here in Arkansas there was a MASSIVE swing of power anyone that had (D) after their name lost or had a very close race. The 1st congressional district has not had a Republican congressman since the Civil War. Yesterday the Rep ran away with it. The Dem senator gave up after less than 10% of the vote had been counted. Mike Ross, one of the leaders of the DNC “Blue Dogs” had the fight of his life to retain his seat. In my county (D) meant you lost. There were many people who had held their positions for 10+ years without scandal who are not unemployed because of their political party. There were several statewide elections where there was only a Democrat and Green party candidate. The Greens were picking up 30%+ of the votes. People here are mad and will not vote for a Democrat. I must thank Obama, Reid and Pelosi for killing off the last “yellow dog democrats”. It was their policies which caused the problem, for that their entire party paid the price.

To all you newly unemployed congresscritters, good luck finding a job in this mess you have created.
