Farmers
I could have told you that....I have been hit by 1 Farmers person and 1 State Farm. Wasn't impressed with either and they were quite rude; given I wasn't their client but still pretty shady what they attempted.
I used to have Geico. No complaints and had them for over 4 years. I now have USAA as they have better coverage at a cheaper price. Geico just couldn't match their deductibles/price/coverage. I also have USAA for homeowners. Some say the company has gone downhill in customer service since they became more widely available to the public but I have yet to experience any personal issues with them.
Do you have a story behind your Farmer's issue?

Why do they suck? I've had them for over 20 years and my four vehicles are cheaper to insure than one for many people. And, any claims I've had (all weather related but one) were processed immediately.
I posted out of frustration. In reality, all insurance companies, and companies in general, have issues and customers have different experiences. I have Farmers Insurance for the house, 3 vehicles, and a motorcycle. We saved a lot of money moving to Farmers from our previous insurance provider. I had an accident with another who also has Farmers Insurance. The other party was found at fault, but either way, Farmers is responsible for paying out. They cut me a decent check but communication was horrrible! The agents handling the incident were not reachable during the hours they said they worked and they didn't return my calls promptly. When I did speak to the agents, they didn't have the knowledge to answer questions I had. They were repetitive in the questions they asked me. No one came out to inspect my vehicle on the day they scheduled to have it inspected. They expected the repair shop to let the truck sit there for a week taking up space until they could conduct the inspection. When an agent came out to inspect my truck I told him I would meet him at the shop. He got there 10 minutes before me, talked to the shop, and then gave me a call asking where I was at. I told him I was one light away. When I pulled up he was already leaving, dspite the fact that I had just told him that I was around the corner; I'm literally talkin 2 minutes! He questioned me on whether my truck was really an F150 or not. Apparently the tow truck driver that hauled my truck to the shop thought that the truck was too big to be an F150 so he told them it was an F450. The insurance company got wind of this and wasn't going to cover my "F450" because obviously I don't have an F450 on my insurance policy. I didn't get any real action until my old lady got a hold of a supervisor much higher up on the totem pole; she has a knack for chewing people out and is a licensed insurtance broker herself. From my experience, Farmers has some real communication and malpractice issues. We reported them to the Department of Insurance. I have yet to be reimbursed for my towing fee.
I don't know how that mix up with the truck type could happen. I trade vehicles almost quarterly. All I do is give them a VIN number and it prints the exact descritpion of the vehicle.

And then the insurance adjuster told me the maximum damage he saw was $500 to pull the bumper out and "paint a little touch up paint which could be done by hand with some dealer supplied touch up paint in a bottle". He was referring to the extra paint they give you for scratches and dings.
Obviously I told him to kick rocks and I would be taking it to my body shop guy....total cost of repair was $3200 for his "minor damage if any"
I spent over 30 years in body work. Now you know what we went through dealing with those ding bats! They used to hire ex-body men for adjusters. Now they won't touch one because they know what they're doing. They hire college graduates, all of whom had to have graduated in the bottom 5% of their class. Most of them couldn't find their fanny if they were an octopus.
When I had to deal with Farmers the adjuster tried to tell me and the local body shop owner that my mustang was a salvage title car and I was trying to pass it off as a clean title. His reasoning was that because I had pulled the stereo and all of the billet aluminum it was a stripped car and his company wouldnt be paying for anything even though his client was at fault. Finally after getting cused at and lied to by this guy we made a call to the state office and were very promptly called and had a meeting made to pay off the car and to get an apology for his behavior.
I couldn't be happier with my Liberty Mutual insurance. My accident in April was handled very well, had the repairs and everything handled within days. Happened April 22nd, had the truck back on the 30th.
