A hangover that produces 'In A Gadda Da Vida' must have been a bad hurt.

Speaking of that, my dentist only knows one price, and it always starts with $1,000....greedy *****, lol

In Feb I was in India for a few weeks on business and I needed to go to the dentist (emergency), so I was basically anxious because I thought it would be on par with the rest of the crappy country....dirt floors, chickens walking around, old rusty pliars, ya know, that was my impression.

Boy was I wrong.

I go in, and it's the most state of the art dental clinic I've ever been to, all the high-end fancy schmancy equipment, the xray that goes around your head, it was quite impressive. The dentist was educated in England. So clean, it was unreal.

So get this, I get a consultation, X-ray, treatment and pills, and the entire bill came to 300 Indian Rupees. (less than $7)
For people who need a lot of money worth of dental work done, that's the place to go. There was some european dude there getting 8 implants done at $500 each, here an implant is about 4-6k.

If I didn't hate the place so bad, I would go back, but I can't even stand looking at it on a map.

Actually there was a story in the Parade section of the paper (Sunday) about a year ago about all the people from the U.S. that go to India for surgery. If they have SOME money but no insurance (say a farmer), they can go and get TOP NOTCH medical care , TOP KNOTCH hotel accommodations while they recover and the air fare, hotel, surgery and all expenses cost them well under half of what just the surgery would cost them here. Don't know how you could expect that kind of quality in a country (what's that smell?) like that, but they said it's true.

For those that don't know the story:

Iron Butterfly's "In-a-gadda-davida" was supposed to be "In a garden of Eden", except the lead singer was "polluted" when he sang the lyrics, and they came out sounding somewhat like "In-a-gadda-davida". At least that is what a neighbor, Alice Cooper, says is the story behind the lyrics.

Biggest. Non-event. Ever.

Wow. Getting root canal work done is a lot different these days than when I last did it . . . which was over 15 years ago.

(Wait, it sounds even better this way . . . Wow. Getting root canal work done is a lot different these days than when I last did it . . . which was half a decade before the turn of the century.)

Oh, and Raoul. I had my work done in the "BIG CITY" where they have electricity and everything! You were right. Makes a big difference! (They even have running water there!)

Pretty soon I'm going to have to end the greatest sociological experiment of our time and move back to Los Angeles so that I can experience civilized life . . . like traffic, drive-by shootings, small one bedroom apartments that cost 750,000 dollars, graffiti everywhere, and gang slayings. (I'm kinda missing that stuff).

Sorry man, does that mean condolences are in order or is that really what you want? I thought you were digging your new life in the country.
I know if someone tried dragging me back to Toronto, I would be kicking and screaming.

(That's false bravado - actually I feel more like this)

The good - You can get drugs that mix well with alcoholic beverages, after the procedure. That cheers me up a little, before the drill. Well, that and gas lol.

What he said.

I've lived in a few cities in my time (New Orleans, San Francisco, Seattle) and I tend to prefer the edge of nowhere. Much quieter, cheaper and safer out here in the sticks!

Somehow I sense a bit of "tongue in cheek" in that statement. Maybe Kobi wants to get back to where you do 80 on the freeway to keep from getting run over. They're more likely to pull you over for driving too slow than too fast. A little different than Kansas.
