Well, trespass is a civil matter actually. If the place is or was not locked, then the squatters could legaly enter and stay there until evicted by the courts.
If the place was locked up, then that would be called "breaking & entering" and would be a police matter.
In real terms, does this guy look English and with a name like Connan Gupta?
If it happened in a real Englishmans house, believe me, they would be gone.

They had a TV show on the BBC 2 years back about Irish Gypsies squatting on land in the UK, they brought in a trailor and ran electricity and such. It's been 2 years and they are still there. the courts there are A JOKE. (i spent 3 years in East Anglia, USAF)
Case in point a thief broke into a farmers house, grabbed a knife from the kitchen when confronted by the owners wife. the farmer grabbed a gun and shot the dude in the leg. he was sued and was going to prison, a daily rag followed the thief who was walking without a cane..got pics. farmer was released.
Its messed up. Our country is heading that way with all of this touchy feely sensitive crap.
