If the price is good for the vehicle, (and you have the cash), I say buy it. If down the road it's not what you want or your interests/priorities change you can most likely sell it for little or no loss.

Sounds like he took good care of it. If so, I wouldn't worry about it.

When you test drive it, just make sure the transmission shifts like it should. Mine has always shifted firm, but not harsh since it was new. The more throttle you give it, the smoother it should shift, unless you go to full throttle. Then you'll feel torque reduction (4-cylinder cut-out) going from first to second to save the transmission if it's stock with no mods.

Sounds like a good deal.. take it from me, if this is something you have been saving for and can afford it, go for it. I was on the fence for 8 months when i bought my 2000 T/A.. I thought, i don't need/don't deserve this car, but after i got it, i was in love. Drove it for 4 years ans still regret getting rid of it. if you want it, and it is mechanically sound, go for it!

You probably won't get a better opportunity for a nice one. The price is very reasonable. The color is great and the grille is easily changed. They do not make a bad color on a Ligtning!

Keep on looking man, there are some good deals out there. check some of the Lightning sites, if you've got the money, there are some nice ones that have been taken care of. Good luck

I see no reason to consider it impractical for every day use. It rides and drives better than a regular F150 ( have three including the Lightning) Gas mileage is in the mid teens unless you play with it. It still carries a load and tows a trailer etc.
I have a 2002 Supercab Sport 2 wheel 5.4 auto posi Flareside I bought new for the wife 211K miles later it still is a great truck. I have another 2002 S'cab 4x4 5.4. auto Flareside bed. Neither of these trucks ride or drive as nice as the Lightning which I just bought.
123K miles on my white Lightning. Mine looks, runs and drives great nice interior as well, but rusted under neath the bed and cab supports etc. I'd like to sell mine for $8500 with ******* Speedstur hard cover and then buy one for a lot more not rusted. In the mean while I am driving it and loving it and I will be 65 in December! Buy it! Anyone interested in the truck or the ******* cover? I am in central Massachusetts.
