Paving America beautiful???
Yep, some re-surfacing on Division (badly needed). Most of Wellesley was completely closed for a while. They're doing a bunch of work to Northwest Blvd. and several other side streets are getting minor makeovers. Then of course there is the building of the North Spokane Corridor, been several years on that one already, and I have serious doubts that they will ever get I-90 done, it's been under construction for 20 years!
Along interstate 85 in Atlanta on the embankments near the exits there are the "reinvestment act" signs where we have paid millions for new mulch and shrubs.
Now those are long-lasting jobs right there. The signs remain, just no workers. Talk about gov't wasting the productive means of society. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy seeing new mulch, shrubs, and sod as I fly by at 70 MPH.

We have a big one here (repave 10 mi of 4-lane/redo ramps/widen bridges). The work is really needed, as the road is concrete panels poured in the mid 50's, but us taxpayers are paying more than we need to for the work. The job was rushed out w/ incomplete plans (in order to get the funding) which has resulted in over $1,000,000.00 worth of change orders to date (job is half done). The job was also awarded to the second bidder ($1,500,000.00 higher than the lowest bidder) as the low bidder didn't have the proper percentage of "disadvantaged contractors" as sub's. BTW, one of the contract items bid on is to issue a report (monthly, I think) stating how many jobs were created or saved.
It has kept a lot of people working (many of them friends/acquaintances), but at what a cost ...
