What do you do to relieve stress
What do you do to relieve stress
Just wondering what all you guys do when your not in the best mood or need to come down a notch (or several). I just get overly upset sometimes and I'm trying to find different things to help me with the problem. ex. The Braves 1-0 loss tonight with 2 errors. I mean I know it's only a petty ball game. But I find myself getting more and more angry over stupid things. You should have seen me watching the LSU/Tenn game this past Sat.
try drinking some soothing tea's and if that dint work i Had a fish tank and i would get lost in the fish and that with a stiff drink would work good.
or you could try smoking some type of pipe like a good cherry or mint flavor tobacco

I know where you're coming from. I've had a lot of problems dealing with stress in the past and now I've found a pretty healthy balance. With my career, school, and just life in general, it's important to find a balance in it all.
First thing that really helped me was identifying that I was overloading myself. If I could spot it earlier it was easier to keep myself from running straight into the ground and crashing. I would stress myself out so much I would go into lock down. Once I was able to identify that I was becoming to stressed, I could take an hour and go do something to relieve it.
Couple things that I do to deal with stress are
Work on my truck
Detail the truck
Work out
Find some sort of project that enjoy and just focus on that for the day
Xbox
Shoot pool

Take some time to just hang out and do nothing, I never realized how much I loved just doing nothing. Some people think I'm weird, but to spend a day and just relax really helps reset your brain.
There are a lot of other factors that help me deal with stress. I try to make sure to maintain a decent sleep schedule (almost impossible with my job but I do try), eat right, and use lists. If I have a list of stuff to do, I can break it down and take one thing at a time. When I finish something I cross it out, and it feels good to see that I've accomplished something.
Stress was a big issue for me, and could cripple me pretty bad sometimes. Don't take it lightly, learn to deal with it early, and manage it in a non self destructive way.
ETA: Drinking is never a good idea. A beer here and there is Ok, but using alcohol to deal with stress will land you in a world of s*** that you don't ever want to be trapped in. I've seen it happen to a lot of great people, and I've almost been there myself. It simply covers up issues.

The best stress reliever for me is reading the Bible. Helps deal with this crazy world. (not talking about baseball).

Stress is a dangerous thing. Why let it into your life over something as trivial as the outcome of a game or how a player performed in said game.

I find dealing with stress is a mindset. there will always be things that will bring it into your life whether it work or personally related.
It has taken me many years, but I have learned to brush off some things and just mentally walk away. So many things that occur in everyday life just aren't worth getting worked up over.
There are things that occur in everyday life that we as humans can have NO control over and letting those "things" stress us out isn't going to change the outcome.
For me it is a personal decision and a mindset. Life is to precious and short to put myself in an early grave, getting worked up over things I can't control and change.

Lots of things relieve stress for me. Church, lifting weights 4 times a week and running, going out with friends, and picking the banjo. And of course putting my hands around someone's neck and squeezing reallly hard does the trick too

Getting amped over something like a sporting event is not stress. On the surface it appears to be a dispositional anger problem - which means y'all got a lot of other stuff going on inside you that is manifesting in this manner.
How you choose to deal with it is up to you. Far be it for me to suggest you see someone about it, but seriously . . . over baseball and football games?
Side note: On the better living thru chemistry side of things . . . Alprazolam rocks. (But it's efficacy is short lived.)
Not even kidding here, but nothing get's the stress out like some good old manual labor.
Any project in general help's greatly if it focus's your mind on something. Some good problem solving and brain challenges do the body good.

Walk into the bathroom look in the mirror and stare yourself in the eye for about a minute. Then try to convince yourself that you are such a big shot you can fix it all.
After you are done laughing at yourself then go do something you enjoy. No matter how pissed you are you can't stop the sun from rising tomorrow!
