Volkswagen Passat Bluemotion has set the Guinness World Record for the longest distance travelled on a single tank of fuel by an un-modified production car.

It covered an astonishing 1,526.63 miles on a single tank of forecourt diesel, averaging 89.82mpg along the way. The Passat's official combined mpg figure is 64.2mpg

Hopefully this will kick the american makers asses into high gear to get some fuel-sipping cars out and in production.

To bad the EPA hippies are trying to get rid of Diesel

 

I had a Jetta TDI for a while, loved the mpg. 4 speed auto, minimum 38mpg. It just seemed like there was something always not quite right with it, codes that would show up for no reason, wierd stuff. If ford made a diesel focus or fusion, I would be very interested in it.

 

Ford makes a lot of diesel cars,focus,fiesta,ranger ect ect but not available in the usa.
