I am not in support of universal coverage with the government controlling everything. I think it would become too overwhelming to manage.
That said I do think that medicaid needs to be expanded to include the working poor.
Large employers should be mandated to make health care available to employees with their share to be capped based on salary.
I don't want to go as far as to say that everyone should be mandated to get insurance BUT I don't want those people to be allowed to use ERs scott free and circumvent the system.
Those that aren't qualified for medicaid and have no alternative should be able to buy in at a rate based on income.
The regulations on insurance companies like ending rules on pre existing and lifetime caps are good.
The CZARs should be treated like cabinet members and need to go before congress.
I don't like any of the bailouts but I don't like the consequences of doing nothing either. Given my choices of the lesser of two evils, I guess I will bail them out instead of losing an industry forever. Same with the banks...I begrudgingly do it.
As for the stimulus bill...I think too many pet projects were included that shouldn't have been included. I would have no problem with doing so to improve infrastructure or lessen our dependence on foreign oil for example.
Traditionally the Supreme Court has upheld the governments right to control commerce so I don't see a violation of the 9th or 10th amendment.

I vote for K-Mac to lose voting privledges... I also vote that Chicago succeed from the United States. They can be made part of Canada and stop ruining our country's politics with guys like Obama, Daley, Blago, et al.
Wit asked for opinions, I think it was wrong under Bush, and it's still wrong under Obama.
Period.
The problem is (while the initial intention is good) is that this stuff always gets abused. Do you trust the gatekeepers? Regardles of which party is in power.
So here they are looking at Mahmoud's MSN messneger chat, only to find out that he is talking to Pete next door, who discusses how is has cheated on his last tax return.
Tomorrow they show up and nail Pete to the wall for cheating, when that wasn't the purpose to begin with.
Then Pete rats out Steve who keeps an illegal house-maid in his house as his nanny, and pretty soon the entire society has turnd into a big pile of rat bastards all tattle-taling on each other because the government in power at the time, abused their power.
Cmon, you guys on the right are always complaining about too much govt, too much this, too much that, you can't have it both ways, or only when it suits your agenda.
Do I think it will save lives? Yes, but there's a trade-off for everything.
It's ok if you agree to give up your personal freedom, but don't complain when it's your turn in the barrel.
