T45 bit problem.....advice?
I'm trying to get the driver's seat of my wife's 04 Blazer out so my dad can take it to work and have it reupholstered, have the stocker foam replaced, etc. I got the front two bolts out that hold the seat to the floor, the rear bolt nearest the door came out fine, but the last bolt in the rear by the center console is a t45 bit and must either be rusted on or was put on with an impact wrench. Busted 2 bits so far trying to get it out. Any ideas/suggestions?

soak it with a rust penetrating oil from the bottom and top of the bolt.
try tapping on it with a hammer to break rust loose on the threads
make sure the seat isnt twisted causing more lateral stress on the bolt
try popping the torque on it, not a steady lean on the tool

That is the problem I had was getting it to seat properly. The first bit I just snapped right off, the second one tore off a few of the teeth. Will try the penetrating oil on Wednesday (my day off from work). Another problem is the bit itself is so long making it hard to keep it straight. Will try again on Wednesday, thanks for the advice!
ps: Neighbor used to be a model maker for GM and was wondering if the bolt went all the way through to the underside of the truck.....is it possible? I looked and did find a bolt that looks to be in the same spot underneath the truck as the one I am trying to remove.

i had to deal with this one once. it was a bolt that went all the way through and got corroded on the underside. had to apply some heat to it on the underside with the smoke wrench with a small welding tip and had someone with water and the torx at the same time working it free.
ha i broke both a socket wrench and a torx bit at the same time, both just kind of exploded. i was too trying to get a seat bolt out of a blazer. try the penetrating oil first like said then you could try heating it. if all else fails then drill it out and tap it i guess.
The T45 fits right, but it is kind of tall so it is hard to keep it perpendicular to the bolt head, that is how I broke the first one sort of. First one looked like it twisted the bit off and a little like it snapped. Second one just broke some of the teeth off. Will try the oil on wednesday and if all else fails I have an impact wrench I can try. Neighbor has a torch I think if I need it. Thanks for all the replies. It was a definite downer when I got all 3 off and got to the fourth and saw the T45 bolt sitting there. lol

Ended up drilling it out. My neighbor who worked for GM was a little concerned about heating the bolt with it being so close to the gas tank. Thanks for all the replies. Very much appreciated.
Soak a bolt like that with penetrating oil for a couple days and then use a 1/2 in impact gun with the pressure cut down to about 35-40%. (I know it's a 3/8 drive, you have to use an adapter) The jarring of the impact after it's been soaked good is a lot more successful than just pressure. The 1/2 in hits hard each blow it makes. 1/2 in cut down is much better than 3/8. BD's suggestion of using the 47 mm and popping it in (it will go) with a big hammer is also good.
