Turning 18 today

09-12-10

Im starting to feel like an old man. Still in my senior year in high school. However i get released at ten to go to work. I manage to still work full time with high school.

In 2.5 years id say my little old pickup has come a long ways. Im just glad to have zero tickets and wrecks.

I am going to get a wallmart credit card soon. Buy gas and products for oil change and what not, pay it off every month. Maybe build a little credit. I have been saving a lot and would like to buy a home in the next couple years. There are a large amount of 3/2's around here being foreclosed on for 25-50k that are very nice. Private locked in loan would be the only way to finance.

anyways, i guess i will post a before and after of my pickup. Goin to chilis for lunch with the family, gonna take the boat out this evening and maybe catch a fish or two.

When i first got it:

Now:

Thanks man. Hey Intense changed their name to Explicit off road. Really? the building is amazing, looks like they are trying to compete with JC's and turn into a full on custom shop. The name kills me.

And thanks everyone else. Its been a great day so far.

Happy b day man.

Little advice tho.

Your going to need alot more credit than a Walmart credit card to be approved for a mortgage.

You might need a co signer. But you may get lucky and find a firm willing to work with you. Home mortgages are very hard to get now a days. They dont hand them out like they used to

but it is a great start! Good luck

not true. government programs exist for those who are buying a house but have bad credit or an income below like 50K... HSA also will deal with just about anyone, but you will need to have alot more of a downpayment with bad credit / no credit than someone who has a 720+ score...

You sound like a responsible young man that is making me feel old.
Stick to your good financial plans and don't let anyone get in the way and you'll have just about everything you want by 30. (Sounds like a long time but believe me, it isn't.)

Life is really just beginning at 18. Heck, I even went from 6' to 6'2" from 18 to 20.

I turned 18 in 1990 by the way.
